I found one comment in the comment section of that article that pretty much sums up what I thought.
"That's ok Teach. These are only Special Needs Children. Surely they don't have feelings or have any emotions. So get back out there and make us proud of you! So at what point does a mental disability excuse a student for verbally harassing a teacher till she snaps?
This article is blatantly biased. It completely ignores the fact that the student was obviously harassing the teacher, and it doesn't mention what disability the student had. Considering the fact that hyper activity disorder or ADD can make a child special needs, the fact that this information is left out bugs the shit out of me. I highly doubt someone who chose to work with special needs children and has that kind of training is going to go off the handle at a kid with full blown autism or something, you know? Often I lie wide awake, thinking of things I could make. But I don’t seem to have the parts to build them. I am so scared of what will kill me in the end, for I am not prepared. I hope I will get the chance to be someone, to be human.   |

Ok... was the teacher fired for snapping at a student or, snapping at a 'disabled student'?
Here are the only two quotes given in the article: “You got pissed off at me today. No baby, you might be an idiot, but I am not an idiot,” “I don't know who pissed on your parade before you came in here. You tired of my bull? Guess what? Then do something about it!” In no way does the teacher single the student out for being disabled in any way. Calling him an idiot: "you might be an idiot", doesn't exactly insinuate any sort of disability to me, at the very most lack of intelligence. The phrase is used on everyone at some point in their life, but for some fucking reason when it's used on a disabled student, everyone throws a fit and an uproar. Kind of same like if you call a black person a "nigger" everyone fucking spits on you, but if you call a white one a "chalky" no one cares. Just because the student so happened to have a disability... doesn't justify anything anywhere in any way. Especially that the article despite being obviously biased, doesn't even tell us what the disability is. Dyslexia? ADHD? Did the kid lose his little finger to a goldfish for playing with the fish tank at the age of 5? If you've got some spare time, read this:
