NASA's Curiosity Rover Lands on Mars! - August 7th 2012, 02:16 PM

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science...ing/56814732/1

This is an incredible feat for NASA, the US, and the world as a whole. NASA is currently underfunded and has been steadily declining since the 1960's. It is currently .5% of the US tax budget. Please, don't forget to let congress know that this matters, and to increase NASA's budget. The bank bailouts exceed the 50 year operation budget of NASA, combined. It's not that we cannot afford to dream, it's that we've stopped dreaming of the future.

Imagine what could be accomplished with 1% of the tax dollar.

Taxes for the upper income brackets should be hiked to 50%, and the majority of the revenue should fund two things: A universal healthcare system, and NASA.

We didn't stop dreaming, we never dreamed at all. When we went to the Moon in the 60's and 70's, it wasn't to fulfill dreams, it was to say "AHA! WE BEAT YOU!" to the Soviet Union. Once the Soviet Union collapsed, the moon mission's reason for being ceased to exist. Quite sad if you think about it.

I want to live to see a Mars colony.
