Is she right??? - May 21st 2015, 09:09 PM

Okay, I use SH today and when I upset my mom I went to go say I was sorry because God placed her in my life and I hate upsetting her. Well she said that self-harm is bad and that I'm hating God when I do that? Is it true??? I don't want to hate God. I love him so much. I need prayers so much right now to help me get back on the right track with my life.

Dont listen to her. God loves you so much! No matter what! Ive done so many mistakes and bad things in my life but God will never stop loving me or you too or anyone!! Jesus was tortured and died for you! He would do anything for you and is always with you! : ) God doesnt hate you,or me or anyone. He loves us more than anyone in the world. Im orayung for you now that you can overcome this. You are so brave!<3 Self harm doesnt make you a bad person at all but it can be dangerous.

You can overcome this with the help of God. PM me if you want to pray together or you need some encouragement or just need someone to talk to. Ive gone through some bas moments in my life but I'm getting better. Im here for you and so is everyone else here! ^_^

It's a tough one, but I encourage you to think about it from a different perspective to that of your mother. I mean you might be self-harming as a result of the challenge God has set you, but God has also placed remedies and ways of alleviating the hurt. I don't quite know where your mother was coming from in that regard. Of course self-harm is a bad thing but as long as you're taking steps and are aware of steps to help stop the habit and alleviate the issues causing it, then you are answering the challenges He has set for you.

Only you can answer the question of the status of your relationship with God and that makes any contribution from your mother to that regard, null and void.

Assuming you're referencing the Christian God, the Bible says God is love. It doesn't mean that SH should be overlooked. You should still seek correction of this habit. But, I'm sure if God forgives murderers, adulterers, rapists, thieves, etc. that he will forgive self-harm, too.

I've been told this same thing. Somewhere in the bible, I am not sure where and I don't know the exact words, there is a verse that talks about defiling your body. That is why tattoos and stuff are considered bad to some Christians. So, technically, self harm could be viewed as the same thing.

However, in my opinion, I think God knows how much we are hurting and can understand why we have turned to these things to try and remedy our pain.

I can see where your mom is coming from with that statement, and I think she feels that you are ruining the form that God has put on Earth... in other words, you and your body. But that is just my interpretation of her thoughts, she may not even be thinking that.

We handle our pain differently, and if you want to reach out to God to get better, then you should. He will guide you down the path towards recovery. Or you could choose to recover on your own without any involvement from God. Or you can do a bit of both.
