I do not believe in anything. I do not know what happens after you die, I'm still alive and frankly I've never talked to the dead. God is only a disappointment. I was raised Catholic and was in a Catholic school up until year 6, but that wasn't my choice. I do not label myself as any religion. Simply because I do not believe in religion period.

I believe in God.

However.. my feeling about him are a whole different story..

I was looking for a breath of life
For a little touch of heavenly light
But all the choirs in my head say, no oh oh

So you mean it was completely irrelevant in the first place? Gotcha.

I don't believe in God.
To believe in God, I'd have to have proof and physical and sufficient evidence that he/she/it was real.
Even if there was proof, I wouldn't worship said God; to me he/she/it seems like a callous and sadistic 'being', and that's not something I would want to worship. Even if he/she/it wasn't callous/sadistic, I still wouldn't worship God.

Anyway, the idea of God seems completely ridiculous, and the concept of religion is just as bad. God is just a nonsensical and irrational idea.

No, I do not believe in "God"

And to make me believe...
He would have to gently levitate down from the sky on a ray of sunshine and with a booming voice ask me what I desired... And then I would respond "you are supposed to be omnipotent, I should not have to answer your question."
and then he would magically make a bucket of KFC extra crispy chicken appear... and I would eat a thigh.
Then he would have to grant me 4 wishes to prove that he is not just a Genie, as they can only grant 3 wishes...

Lastly, he must resurrect someone of my choice... and they would have to be in like-new condition to prove he is not a necromancer... they can only resurrect bodies in "AS-IS" condition..

Then. Then I would Believe.

I don't believe in the conventional, generally assumed God that mainstream religions recognize. My idea of God is difficult to describe. But as soon as I see solid, indisputable evidence of the Christian God in all his glory, I'll be a convert.

Re: for those who do not believe in a higher power - December 19th 2010, 04:00 AM

I voted "I do not know," but let me elaborate on that.

I know I do not believe in the Christian God, or the god of any religion for that matter. I believe that religion is man-made and an attempt to explain something inconceivable to humanity. Whether this inconceivable thing is a deity or a force of nature cannot be proven at this time, but if it is a deity, I do not believe it is like anything that has ever been described in holy texts.

I also do not believe that humans should spend their lives worshiping a deity we do not even know is there. Furthermore, why strive for an afterlife when it cannot be proven that it exists? I believe people should be living for the here and the now. If you are a good person, I think that is all that matters. Until it can be proven (if it ever can be), I don't think it's something we should concern ourselves with.

Like others have said, I need sufficient evidence to believe with certainty that any deity exists. And if a deity could be proven, I still would not worship it. Would I want to acknowledge it and sustain a relationship with it? Yes, I think I would. But I shall not worship anyone or anything. Any deity who makes you worship it sounds like a sadist to me and isn't worth my time, even if it is the creator of the universe.

Or if you are not sure what, if anything would make you a believer?
Well, I do not believe there is a God.

What would make me believe? I honestly don't know. Maybe a profound traumatic experience can make me believe for a little while, but even then I am not sure if it would.
