Hell: We can't afford to get it wrong. -

I'm posting this just for reference to some who may have questions on hell. I do not know whether this book will be theologically sound, however, one thing I know about Francis Chan is that he strives to be honest. He comes as someone who is learning, rather than some know-it-all preacher. "Daniel broke the kings decree, Peter stepped from the ship to the sea, there was hope for Job like a cut down tree... I hope that there's such hope for me... Blind as I've become, I used to wonder where you were. These days I can't find where You're not. Mine's been a yard carefully surface tended, foxes burrowed underground. Gardening so highly self-recommended, what could I have done but let You down? The sun and the moon, I want to see both worlds as one." -Aaron Weiss, mewithoutYou

If hell exists and non-believers really do go there, I wouldn't want to be elsewhere. Whatever heaven offers wouldn't be as good as an eternity with my friends, family, and Carl Sagan.
The atoms that make up you and me were born in the hearts of suns many times greater than ours and in time our atoms will return once again to reside amongst the stars. Life is but an idle dalliance of the cosmos, frail, and soon forgotten. We have been set adrift in an ocean whose tides we are only beginning to comprehend, and with that maturity has come the realization that we are, at least for now, alone. In that loneliness, it falls to us to shine as brightly as the stars from which we came.

If I am going to hell, might as well give Satan an impressive resume to look at. Satanism is not a white light religion; it is a religion of the flesh, the mundane, the carnal - all of which are ruled by Satan, the personification of the Left Hand Path.

Agreed. Plus, in hell there are all the bad girls (hehe), I can work on my tan and have top-of-the-line BBQs. God damn I love me fresh grilled meat.
I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

In short: If hell doesn't exist, it's a moot point. If hell exists but isn't torturous, I would probably prefer hell. If hell exists and is torturous, I would rather suffer than abandon morality. I'm sure exceptions to this could be found, but it generally summarizes my opinion on all the 'poopular' hells. Even more generally: any god who would condemn a person for reaoning critically is not a god I would accept anyway. As such I have no reason to want to believe in a god even if he should happen to exist. The atoms that make up you and me were born in the hearts of suns many times greater than ours and in time our atoms will return once again to reside amongst the stars.
