Incense Cones? - November 28th 2011, 01:14 AM

Ok so, random and possibly dumb question... But today I got some Sai Incense cones for myself and my counselor (who is also a Buddhist) for meditation and such... I was just wondering, how exactly are you supposed to use them? The first one I used was called Patchouli, and I thought that maybe it was just that certain scent that was why it only smelled musky and smoky. But I just tried a rose one and it did exactly the same thing. They smell good in the boxes, don't get me wrong. But once I light them I smell nothing but smoke for the rest of the day... can someone help please?

Anywhere I go
I'm home
If you are there beside me

I love incense cones but find they burn too quickly and there's so much smoke with them. If you can, at some point in time I recommend buying an incense oil burner. You get the smell without the smoke and it only takes the little tea candles to heat up the oil in them. I do regularly burn patchouli incense sticks too though since it happens to be one of my favorites. Amber is a good scent too. They're both warmer, woody, tones.

Personally, my favorite scent is dragon blood.

I hate to just link and go, but they explain it better than I ever could Further down it tells you how to light it for the best results

Take me seriously.
I dare you.

My husband uses them all the time, but just light it like a normal insent was what he did. We did learn that don't let leave it around sick cats, one of our cats peed on it and it ended up smelling like drugs. :-)
