Airplane fright - April 15th 2009, 10:30 PM

Alright so i'm leaving 2moro with my ss class for gettysburg and personally everytime I go to the airport, I get super nervious. I get so excited/nervious that I litteraly get sick to my stomach. Then ofcourse, the plane ride doesn't help at all. I hate landing and taking off. Any tips on how to calm down? Please help-I have to be there at 5 am!

Try to enjoy the rush of the jet engines forcing you to go down the runway at speeds you're not used to. That may scare you more than anything but try to enjoy it. Something else to keep in mind is a little bit after take off it will seem like the plane will stall but it's not, it's part of it. Bring gum to combat the pressure difference. If you're not afraid of heights look out the window at the contour of the land. When you're landing the engines will be slowed down and it's loud, (this is all once you land on the runway) but it's part of it.

Just try to think calming thoughts.
Chew some gum, it always helps me stay calmer, plus your ears don't get all funked up when you're in the air. And just remember that the pilots know what they're doing and had to go through yearrrrss of flight school to be able to be flying the plane Read a book, bring along your iPod, anything like that, also. Have fun on your trip!

I suggest doing something calming. Taking deep breaths, talking to people, reading on the plane, thinking about a song, could all help combat your nerves.
As for the stomach sickness, my sister used to take gravol before going on planes. Is there something like that you could take?

You could have gone to the docs and got some sedatives.

But just try something to calm stress or anxiety. You can get stuff like that pretty cheap in the chemist, both herbal and chemical.
