Heavy World

A poem about depression making me extremely fatigued, and the desire to sleep all of the time.

They say that burdened souls
have the weight of the world on their shoulders.
I am certainly feeling that weight
dragging me deeper and deeper through the earth's crust
into the bedrock of the world's inner core.
My ankles tied with ball and chain
And I sink
Sink
Sink
Deeper down, eyelids fluttering closed
Heartbeat slowing, body ever heavier.
A world too heavy, too much for these frail bones
A life too long, too strong for this glass heart
Warping in the heat, and shattering upon impact.
In my bed of rot and filth
Belongings strewn about and out of place
Out of place
Out of place just like me
I am pulling anvils
Pushing solid brick walls
Two immovable objects
The world is so heavy
And I am so tired
Always wanting to go back to bed
So I stay
My eyes are so heavy
And I sleep
And I sleep
And I sleep
And I sleep...

I can relate to this! I want to sleep all the time with my depression too and it feels heavy.
