The Sun Will Rise.

This poem is for anyone and everyone. Everyone in life inevitably has a low moment at some point, and if you're currently going through something then I hope you can find hope from these words, and more importantly, realize that one day the sun will rise. If you're reading this, whether I know you personally or not - I love you, and you are loved.

Prelude


People avoid the topic of mental illness, and that irks me
The current state of affairs as of late isn't how things should be
Why stigmatize a condition that is so widespread?
The thought of how many suffer needlessly brings dread
Well I'm tired of the situation at hand
So I'm here to write, to try and take a stand

Many are too afraid to speak, their minds acting as a vice
But for too long I've been restrained, so I'm here to break the ice
I can't just sit by and let a friend needlessly die
So here's a short story to give hope for you to try
If you're currently in a dark place
I hope that you find peace, love, and grace

I once thought in my life that I was better off dead
Until one day I got sick of bleeding in the red
I spent forever looking for a place without worry
Sick of the falling tears, my eyes were left far too blurry
I've been looking for that one love to know
Yet when I'm so close, I just let them go

I cared too much, and it seems that you cared enough to leave
Though I've never been one to wear emotions on my sleeve
All of these events surrounding me had taken its toll
But the truth is that everyone is just a roaming soul
All of these tests could either break my heart or save me
But at the road's end, I saw who I was meant to be

I can see the weight in your eyes
Behind the mask of your disguise
There's a thorn in your side, you're clearly stressed
Through the night, I'm here to provide you rest
In time, everything will be alright
And that day will come, rays shining bright

I know that right now you may be unable to see it
But you're far too strong to just give up on life now and quit
You're not the only person who's fighting an uphill climb
But believe me when I tell you that you can win with time
And now, I'm not afraid anymore
Let someone help you, you'll win this war

This whole time, you've slowly been breaking your own heart
While sitting through the cold rainfalls, hoping they part
You don't have to try and walk alone through the dark
When all is said and done, I hope I've left a mark
No, this isn't just a cold spell that you're going through
If for nothing else, I'm here to say that I love you

It's not too late for you, I'm still here
I hope these words will reach ears that hear
Who we are is who we are
In the past my soul was marred
I've left hearts in broken pieces, and I wish I could take words back
But even with the ugly scars, I'm not defined by what I lack

I made my compromises, but I won't make any with you
A lot of time passed for me to get here - if only you knew
Despite your situation, you'll make it through all of this
And once you do, what's waiting on the other side is bliss
Now the last chapter of this note lies ahead, so take heed
Long ago I was once like you, but now I have been freed

Through this journey, my clouds have slowly disappeared
And now, after all of the trials, I've made it here
And after everything, it's so that you can hear me say
That even if you feel that you've somehow lost your own way
I say this to you, so look in my eyes
All the storms will part, and the sun will rise

That is a great poem. It really spoke the truth. Great job and I think it was worth it that you didn't sleep if you wrote a poem that good. You should write more poems, you seem to be very good at it.

A very nice poem with a powerful meaning! You're right, many people do avoid the topic of mental illness, but we keep turning a blind eye to the problems of those around us. They need our help! And it's also very true that, indeed, the sun will rise someday, no matter how dark the night gets for you.
