Love

Love doesn't belong in this world, where it is a weapon of war
It tortures little innocents, of present days and yore
Bullets pierce the flesh, but love kills the soul
It makes enemies of young, and corpses of the old

When fantasies are never met, dreams cannot come true
Love is just a fairytale, made to hurt both me and you
I have been there my friend, and I left with scars
I'm stuck on planet Venus, but I cannot reach Mars

Dreams are easy to wish, but impossible to live
They fall short of reality, and leave no room to give
Love is there to tease us, fight it before it's too late
Kill it from the first signs, do not hesitate

Whoever invented romance, or lust - or desire
I hope they understand their wrongs, and put out the fire
A falsehood called love, it spreads like a single flame
But don't give it a second, it gets harder to tame

I used to be like you, I trusted my heart
I wore it on my sleeve, and I got an almighty start
When I woke to find it smashed, cracked in two
It hurts more than it saves, even me and you

Love is but a virus, no vaccine to create
But once it gets big, it's bad - but great
The planet's addicted, love's a hallucinogen
Made to hurt the world, so it can't breathe again

Don't let love engulf you, like a tidal wave
Stay protected, don't let it make you a slave
Many drown in it's force, and some never return
But I would teach the planet, if only they'd learn

Love doesn't kill fast, like a bullet to the brain
It gives you dreams of human flesh, of kissing in the rain
Then it tosses you out, right into solitude
Where you lose your will to live, your stoical attitude

What's the point of living, love seems to suggest
Come and taste the romance, and you can leave the rest
But they all get sucked in, and they never come unstuck
I've told them so many times, the world's love struck

When I saw people in love, I used to feel jealous
But that's what love does, it makes you overzealous
You want to be loved, so you do things with haste
I've been there my friend, and I got one nasty taste

Love is a wolf in sheep's clothing, an evil smile hidden so well
It feeds on naïve young things, and it casts a filthy spell
But don't let it take you, please don't be gullible
It acts in many forms, it's plastic - it's likeable

I used to believe in love - my God I was reckless
I hoped for romance, it seems - I was thoughtless
But after the first try, I knew it was a falsehood
It appears on the horizon, then leaves no real good

It should have been banned, I don't know why it's still here
Love makes fools of scholars, an enticing sweet leer
But notice how it backs away, at the most important part
Then it comes back to haunt you, to steal and break your heart

Where is the answer, I've searched high and low
Something must kill love, but I cannot ever know
I'll contaminate this planet, the entire population
Making then breaking, hurting every generation

Love is not a blessing, you know it's a curse
My final words of wisdom; flee before you submerse
Now to conclude my story, the beginning of a fight
To keep it from the hearts of dreamers, out of your sight.
