Nausea/vomiting. - December 15th 2014, 07:19 PM

So, I don't know if what I was experiencing yesterday was from PMSing, from anxiety during sexual stuff, or what.

I was with a friend yesterday, and lately we have been experimenting with rope stuff. Normally I am clothed, but yesterday I was shirtless except for a bra, and we tried groping, etc.

It was going fine, I was fine with it, and then all of the sudden I felt super hot like I was about to puke and just had to get untied like right then and there and run to the bathroom. I ended up gagging, but didn't actually vomit. Afterwards I got super cold and had to sit on his bed for a little bit to make sure I was truly all right before I went back to my dorm. I then sort of had the feeling in my stomach like I had to go to the bathroom, but it remained after I went to the bathroom (Sorry for the TMI).

So, he and I had a couple theories of what's going on, and I decided to ask you all for your help on managing them, if one of them turns out to be the case.

1. I'm sick. However, I don't think this is the case as I was feeling fine before except for a few cold symptoms.

2. PMS. It may be the case, as I started spotting for my period today and still feel kinda off, but not pukey off. But I never get nausea/vomiting with my PMS, so I don't know if that really is it or not.

3. Anxiety from what we were doing. As I said, I had done rope stuff before but I was always fully clothed and we never tried groping or anything like that. But I was also feeling fine with the groping, and I was even pretty turned on, until BAM. Sudden nausea.

4. My finals start today so maybe anxiety from that popping up, but I've never vomited from anxiety and am also confident in my finals.

If it IS PMS or anxiety from the sexual stuff we were doing, how do I manage it?

To me, it sounds like anxiety from what you were doing from the timing of it, mixed with finals stress and everything else. How are you feeling today? See if your period starts, and then maybe it was PMS, but to me, it sounds like anxiety.

I've had periods that have made me feel sick before (though usually with me its the cramps when they get like so painful I feel sick etc from the pain of the cramps). So it could be that or it could be the anxiety from what you were doing. Sorry if that is not like much help.

I am still feeling icky so I am going to assume it is from my period. How do you deal with periods that make you sick? I haven't had a bad period since I started birth control so I don't know.

My guess would be you were throwing up from anxiety. It's unlikely your period would cause you to vomit unless you were having extreme cramping at the time. It could be the anxiety of your finals or it could be anxiety about what you were doing, or both. The best thing to do in these situations is listen to your body. Be sure you are doing ties for the moment that don't constrict your breathing, for having your breath constricted could also make you feel nauseated. It can help to check in as you are doing the rope about how things feel, where they are tight, can you breathe, etc.. Take full breaths. If you need to throw up, stop what you are doing right then and throw up (though preferably in a place where it's easy to clean up, like the toilet).

Unfortunately I don't have any other better suggestions than that. The body is a finicky thing, and there were multiple factors involved in this case. The only way to know for sure what it might be would be to recreate the situation minus one or more of the factors, but you might understandably not want to do that.
