Sex questions - July 22nd 2017, 01:49 AM

Hi! I have a few questions! I've recently Started being sexually active with my boyfriend, I'm on the pill and we use condoms but I have anxiety disorder so naturally I manage to be anxious about everything! So yesterday we had sex and I started bleeding within about two hours after, we've only had sex a few times so I wasn't too surprised, especially since this was the first time it was really good 😂 Today about 30 hours after I still have brown discharge, is this okay? Also I'm due for my period this weekend and am just curious, can one get their period and be pregnant? Like if I get my period on Sunday I'm good right? 😂 I'm not very concerned about that because of all the contraceptives we've been using, just curious ☺️
Thanks for reading!

Hey there! I think you'll be okay. Some women bleed after having sex the first time or first several times. The bleeding can also turn dark and last for a few days.

Hey there,

Bleeding the first few times after you have sex is normal. I bled the first few times after I had sex. I got freaked out and went to the doctor and she said it was normal, gave me a pap smear just to be safe and confirmed that the results were normal and that it was likely just my body needing to adjust. She suggested lots of foreplay and then lots of lube to help. I no longer bleed and I think I ended up stopping after having sex for about a month.

As for your questions, it's impossible to have a period while you are pregnant. However, it is possible to have light bleeding during the earlier stages of pregnancy which is why there are woman who mistakenly think it's just a light period. If you are super worried about pregnancy you can always take a pregnancy test two weeks after the time you've last had sex. I keep pregnancy tests handy in case I get paranoid or miss a period (this can happen sometimes on birth control). Having them handy allows me to take a test right away and then I stop stressing about the possibility of being pregnant.

Thank you for the replies! The dark bleeding ended up turning into bright red with some clots the night after I started my sugar pills so I guess I'm just on my period now ☺️ So it must just have been due to being one of my first times! Also it's funny how periods can become good news 😂 Thanks again!
