The Pill.. - January 14th 2009, 07:13 PM

Okay, Im considering going on the pill,
but I was wondering..does it cost anything?
I live in the UK and I thought it was free but someone told me that I might have to pay as I am 18 years old now.
Anyone no anything about this???

I suspect it is because you're classed as an adult and therefore do not get free prescriptions. However, if you are unemployed or in full time education you might be able to get them free.
Look for a HC1 form from your doctor or job centre although you can ring 08700 102 870. Source is the link below

All contraceptive is free in the UK.
You can go to your doctor and get a presecription.
If you want info or to talk about it you can just go ask your doctor about details and theyll explain it to you.
Or go to your local family planning clinic etc.
They would also discuss if its the best method for you and other options.

What you heard is true with other prescriptions in the UK.
You normally pay a flat rate for most presciptions by your doctor when your over 18.
Unless your in full time education or on some kind of benefits etc.
If you are then you just fill out a form to get them all free.

All of this is from what I know, hope it helps
