Okay so today me and my boyfriend were having some 'fun' in my room, we did'nt get as far as having sex. We did some things I gave him a hand job, and he fingered me. It was going well at first... but then as put his fingers inside of me it hurt, I had to ask him to stop, which he did do, we tried again and it hurt. I was loose and wet, but for some odd reason it hurt, I told him to focus more on the outside around where the top of my vagina is the clit etc that did'nt hurt but then we tried fingering again and it hurt. It was my first time being fingered, is it normal for that to hurt? My parents were downstairs so I'm wondering if that had something to do with it, the fact that knowing my parents were downstairs meant I could not relax properly.. and maybe thats why it hurt? Is fingering meant to hurt?

Hey there.

Some times when you're a virgin it can hurt, because some women and girls have a hymen, which is like a membrane that sort of covers the vaginal opening and it is "popped" or some times torn when you have penetration. It could also be because your parents were downstairs and you weren't comfortable, but I don't think that that could be the reason since you were lubricated. Perhaps try some KY jelly? You can pick that up from any store that sells family planning merchandise, like Walmart and I don't believe that you have to have ID, same with condoms.

But if you're truly worried something is wrong then I think you should talk to your doctor about it, because some times the hymen can have defects, like it not have an opening at all or smaller holes throughout it. If that's the case then there are medical options available to you to fix it so that way it's no uncomfortable, however, if you're under 18 then you have to have a parents permission to get any help with it.

If you're worried about going to the doctor because you don't want your parents to go back in the exam room with you, you can request that they leave the room if your doctor doesn't have a policy for minors to have parents in the room.

It could be any number of things causing your issue, but like I said, if you're worried something could be wrong, see a doctor, because we aren't medical professionals and can't really give you a diagnosis or anything.

1. (of a person or animal) able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions.
2. (of a substance or object) able to recoil or spring back into shape after bending, stretching, or being compressed.

We all possess resilience, we just need to realize it.

I agree with what Coraline said, but I just want to add on a question. Were his fingernails trimmed neatly and clipped? I'm just wondering if maybe his nails were too long or jagged and that caused some pain?

I agree. Sometimes when one's partner doesn't have neatly trimmed and clipped fingernails it can hurt. In that case the hurt would be something like a stinging soreness. If the hurt is caused by something else it may feel different than that.

Hey there,

I agree with a lot of what has been said, I wanted to add that if you keep feeling pain it's probably best to check with the doctor. A lot of the times they can look into it and rule out a lot of stuff and then provide patients with tips. I know that I was able to get tips from a primary care doctor when I first started being sexually active.

It's probably better to seek out professional help if the pain persists since there are so many things that could be causing it.

I am wishing you the best.

I once talked to my friend about this and she said she got used to it after a while.
