How to hide/get rid of Hickeys/Love Bites? - July 31st 2009, 04:05 PM

Pretty much what it says in the title.
Ive heard toothpaste is meant to make them disappear.
Wondering whether anyone has any advice apart from covering up with a scarf or hair..?
Im sure theres many teens out there attempting to hide them from parents etc so hopefuly this thread will come in useful...

Cover Up, Cover Up, Cover Up.

and when all else fails, make up a believable lie.

lol, good luck =)

I suppose there are a few things you can do:
  • Toothpaste (mentioned already)
  • Wear a scarf
  • Wear a polo neck sweater
  • put makeup over it
  • Wear hair down over your neck
Im not sure of anymore but I think those are the main ones

I heard if you put a spoon in the freezer for about an hour so its ice cold, and make circular motions on it for about 20 mins, it can make it less obvious. Never tried to hide them, I've come home covered in them before and I just took the yelling I got off my Mum.

As previously mentioned, it's probably the easiest thing to try and hide them :P

I'd cover them with hair, or just put makeup over it to make it less visible. But try and stay out of your parents way for a while, especially when applying toothpaste or spoons

to be honest i wouldn't put concealer on it.. because i think it makes it more obvious actually! if i were you i'd just not bother trying to hide it and ignore anything anyone says about it lol.

but if you have long hair try and cover it with you hair or a chunky necklace or a top with a high neck.

Trying to spread the blood out with something like the end of a chap stick helps slightly but not enough. Toothpaste doesn't do much either. The best thing to do is to wear something that covers your neck. If its hot and summer, your best bet is something like a bandanna. Winter is easier.

make up doesnt do a whole lot, just makes it a little more obvious in my opinion.

if theres more than one and theyre all in relativly the same spot(this is what i did) just sit there with your hand covering them, but i usually have my hand on my neck(no clue why,jus do),if you usually dont,it might look a bit weird tho. otherwise i suggest just wearing your hair down and letting your hair cover it/them or just dont do anything about them and ignore what people say about it to you.

You could put a small bit of foundation on it to sorta tone the redness down, but the best way to really make it go away would be to cover it. A light scarf, T-shirt, or hair might do the trick!

Hickeys are bruises so there really isn't much you can do but let the blood vessels heal. Creams with Vitamin K might help (make sure you are eating healthy too so your body can mend itself better).

It should go away in a about a week though

Frozen spoons help with the swelling...and rubbing a coin/fine toothed comb across the hickey can reduce the redness after awhile...but it hurts xD Just use a lighter foundation.

The coin thing works but it hurts
Probably best wearing a scarf or a polo neck/high necked top.

Like everyone said I would try over up...but for cover up try a powder one and just dust it over. Liquid cover up could make it more noticable. Otherwise anything really cold to help with the bruise should help. Overall, avoid your parents and just use your hair to cover up your neck as much as possible.

I'll do whatever it takes to be the mistake you can't live without.

A hot washcloth makes them heal a lot faster, you have to get to it fast though, within half a day of getting the lovebite.

Never tried the cold spoon myself, putting ice cold things on your skin can cause tissue damage.
