ive been wearing black bracelets for quite some time and a guy in my class asked that if he pulled it off would i have sex with him. at the time i had nooo idea what that meant and just liked the bracelets but apparently if you break them or have someone pull them off your wrist then you have to do (whatever the color) with that person. i just think theyre cool tho

Those jelly bracelets were actually really popular when I was in middle school. People didn't wear them because of what the colours stood for though, but my school did ban them, I believe.

From what I understand, if a guy was to break the bracelet, you were supposed to do whatever your colour's action was with him. I don't think anyone actually believed in that though.

I remember when I was in middle school. I wore them... Not necessarily because I wanted to do all of those things. The bracelets were just popular at the time and I wore them because I liked them. I knew the "meanings" of them and everything, but I didn't use them for casual sex.

Back when I was in high school, girls used to wear them. I never did because I didn't feel like the whole world knowing what I had done. I don't really think it's a good idea, especially if you want guys to take you seriously. But hey, if you're into that kind of stuff, then kudos to you.

wering them isnt meant to say what you have done... the idea is if some breaks one you then do the act the band represented. These are old, I heard it came back. I've never actually worked out if anyway actually follows doing this. To be fair even if someone broke your band its easy to just say 'sorry, but still no'. My ex once tried to convince me to do this because I wasnt having sex with her. I was just like 'if Im not doing these things anyway, why would you breaking something I paid for change that?'

I wear jelly bracelets, but they stand for my recovery and the causes I support, not how far I'd go with someone. I don't like the sec bracelet thing, not at all. My mum actually asked me about it the other day, first time I heard about it. It's stupid. I know people who were bracelets that remember friends they lost, sports they played, schools they go to, causes they support, but never anyone with a sex bracelet.

I love jelly bracelets/shag bands I think they're cute. I used to wear them all the time until I got sick of the sexual intercourse/oral/flashing comments. The amount of times people broke mine in school as a joke was lame </3 I think the sex idea of them is kind of silly.

Woah...those are old. I'd forgotten about them.
I used to wear them when I was about 5 - not that I wore them to express sexual desire - I've got two older sisters and I used to copy them alot when I was growing up. My eldest sister used to wear them thus so did I because she was my main idiol (still is heh). This was in 1995 remember but i've always known them to be called "Shag Bands" and me and my friends used to giggle like idiots at the name.

I actually didnt know that the colours had meanings though. I always thought that if someone broke one of your Shag Bands then it resulted in sexual intercourse. Something stupid really and I can understand why I liked them at that age - they were pretty to me and they involved the word SHAG which was hilarious to my 5 yearold sence of humour but I don't understand why anybody would wear them at much older ages than that to display your sexual activity. I mean ofcourse if people want to then whatever I just think it's abit tacky and creepy. I wouldnt wear one now and I think if I met a guy who wore them for sexual perpouses i'd just automatically see him as an utter slime ball.

I remember these from when I was at school.... The idea was that you would wear a whole range of colors and if somebody breaks it you have to do said action with them. It's not notifying the world what you've done... just a bit of fun I guess.

First of all...the color chart in the first post is confusing as heck! One bracelet can me two COMPLETELY different things, another bracelet can me one of those same things o_O I mean wtf?

I remember wearing these in school for fun because mostly people thought they were pretty and easy to put on but then the school banned them as soon as the news started reporting on them saying they were "sex" bracelets.

Personally, I think it's fine to wear them, unless for the sexual part. If you REALLY want to let a guy (any random guy at that) break your bracelet and have you do that to him, then....wow, well enjoy and watch out for STDs dude.

Also, there was a good Degrassi: The Next Generation episode on this. Except, instead of a guy breaking it, a guy would put a bracelet on the girl after she did something sexual with him.

Shag bands were about when I was in primary school [I feel so damned old]. I never wore them, I don't think I ever would. I see no point in them, not even for 'fun' [maybe that's the oldness though]. When I saw an episode of Degrassi involving sex bracelets, they did it that the guy would give the girl a bracelet when she did _____ with him/to him and that it was like a display to everyone else what they had done. They ended up with STD's :P

I wore them for a bit in middle school but then kids made fun of me..and then those kids started wearing them...and then I stopped wearing them because the boys were basically constant hard-ons walking around because all the girls had sex bracelets :P

i've had them for ages (5 years) even they weren't the "in thing" as i just liked them, as you could wear them anywhere and where so easy to match with stuff. But now more and more are asking why are you wearing them/ that colour (i often wear black) and when i was more naive i would say i like which to some i must say went down the wwrong way. around here(michigan) theyre(sex bracelets) really popular, i personally had no clue that they were actually sex bracelets until i got into high school freshmen year,and then it was if someone broke the black one around another persons wrist,they had to have sex. basically jus another reason for all the sluts at school to get banged.

i use to go with this one chick who was always wearing the black or green sex bracelets,and i knew at the time they were sex bracelets,i NEVER broke any of em,she tried to get me to a few times,but i NEVER would. those bracelets,they just proved to me how much of a slut she was,i hate her now,and i hated her then,i have no clue why i ever went with her. all she ever talked about was who she had sex with or who she wanted to have sex with or who she was gonna have sex with.

I used to wear them when i was about 12/13; got them in camden so my naive self at the time just assumed they were pretty and 'funky'... wasnt till my friend told me they were 'Shag Bands' that i realised. I have to be honest with you, that is rediculous! I have a black one, it stands for the loss of my grandma in the Hospice House. I have a blue one which is for cancer, what my grandpa died from 4.5 months after my grandma. And I have a yellow LiveStrong one, for cancer in general because it runs strongly in my family. These bracelets you kids are wearing stand for something much deeper and I can tell you, having an adult see them, they dont think the sexual things, they feel bad for you because they think you've been effected by whatever color you're wearing. Please think about it before you do that. It means a lot more to people like me who know what they actually mean!

Sorry, i may be wrong but when i read through a few posts it seems to me like people have gotten confused with 'Cause' jelly bands and the actual shag bands that the discussion is about...

I think it's stupid that they have meanings to them. I read it in the paper this week about how they have meaning and kids are at school wearing them. When I wore them, I wore them for the purpose of having a bracelet not because I was showing the world that I'd do this and I'd do that because it's just silly.
