What are some reasons for skipping your period? - March 15th 2010, 08:04 PM

Obviously pregnancy...but other than that, what are reasons you skip your period? Because I skipped mine and it couldn't be from pregnancy...It's been almost two weeks since my missed period so I would notice if I was pregnant, right? I want to see if I can understand why I missed...

I want a moment to be real
Want to touch things I don't feel
Want to hold on, and feel I belong
And how can the world want me to change?
They're the ones that stay the same
They don't know me, but I'm still here

SO many reasons. If you're yo-yo dieting it can definitely have an effect, as can stress and starting new medication, especially the pill. Also, after you start your first periods they can take a while to settle down, mine were rpetty regular staright away, but I ahd friends who would get one and not ahve another for seven months or so. They usually take about two to two and a half years to settle down completely.

Are you regular? Because for the first few years of me having one, it came and went as it pleased. I'd be late all the time.

It could also be due to stress, change in diet, changes in your emotional well being...

It could also be due to medical issues. If you think its serious, you could always talk to your doctor.

As far as pregnancy... have you had unprotected sex recently? Because even if you are two weeks late, you wouldn't be able to "just notice." I was over two months pregnant before I finally tested and got a positive. I had absolutely no symptoms until well into my pregnancy to let me know.

Hope I helped! PM me is you have any more questions!

I'm in the same situation at the moment, my period is about 2 and a half weeks late and I havn't had sex for over a year lol
I've been pretty damn stressed recently though about college and worrying how my mum is going to act when my bf comes to stay so I'm guessing it's because of that but I don't know. I've always been regular and I've been having my period for about 10 years now x.x

I've missed my period when I was really stressed or just grr about everything. Then I was more stressed out when I missed it. =P

In my own experience I missed my period when I was super stressed about things (once I didnt get it for five months, even though I was not sexually active at the time), and also when I was struggling with a mild ED and got below a healthy weight (I lost it for seven months). There are plenty of other reasons, however. Talk to your doctor if you are super worried about it.

"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
"I don't much care where-"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go."

If you have a cold or flu that can delay or stop your period. Just mentioning it because that happens to me when I get sick. It all goes back to stress though (if your body is stressed from being sick for example). Also if you're worried about not getting your period you may not get it just because you're worried ie stressing. It's funny that way. :P

If you're sexually active and your even a little worried you could be pregnant talk to your doctor and take a test. But if it is just stress stop thinking about it or you may scare it away next month too!

Re: What are some reasons for skipping your period? - March 19th 2010, 12:09 AM

Mine was recently late by a couple weeks because i was stressed. I'm not on the pill but I've always used condoms when I've had sex and my boyfriend checks immediately after to see if there's been any spills or rips (we had one rip during once and he noticed the moment it did so we immediately stopped) so I was confident I was fine. I was still a little paranoid that something could've happened and i could've ended up pregnant, so the stressing made it more and more late. My boyfriend was relieved when I got it because even he noticed it'd been awhile since I had my period.

I say try to relax and see if it comes. If not, get a test to be sure.

stress, being sick (taking antibiotics with the pill can mess you up sometimes) if you're having nutritional problems such as either heavy weight gain or other eating disorders... heck sometimes mother nature just goes missing in action once in a while.

Stressed, being sick, dieting, eating more than normal, change of environment, random body changes, lot's of exercise, almost anything. Just be sure to make note of things and see if it comes back to normal

Stress can do, both emotional and physical such as excerising. Starting new meds can do. A bad diet can do it also. and like everyone else said, it can take a while for you periods to settle down. It took mine almost three years of me panicing once a month because i was late :P . If it's a serious issue, aka, last a long time, odd flows and other stuffs, talk to your doctor. But don't over fret about it...

I found this website http://www.listafterlist.com/tabid/5...+a+Period.aspx

I'd say the most common reasons were stress and weight loss.

Well im not going to write what I was going to, because all the above posts use my words exactly! Could be stress, new medication, naturally irregular periods, drastic weight loss or gain even can cause you to skip periods. I wouldn't worry about it this month, if you miss it again next month and are concerned you could go see a doctor.
