The Implant - May 7th 2010, 03:08 AM

(I hope this is the right place for this ) Okay, so I'm getting the implant on monday and I wanted some opinions for and against it. Also, I wanted to know how long you have to wait after getting the implant until you're covered for getting pregnant (both me and my boyfriend have taken sti tests). But yeah, positive experiences? negative experiences? anything and everything is welcome =] xxx

Re: The Implant - May 7th 2010, 11:54 AM

I have had mine since December.

Unfortunately I have not been without side effects.

My skin is worse but I'm controlling it with medicated gel.

I've gained a few kilos that I cannot shed.

My periods are really irregular and sometimes last for over 10 days. Or I might get two in a row.

But all that aside, I wouldn't get it taken out.
I like that it won't affect my fertility in later life and that I don't have to worry about forgetting to take a pill or something.

I have a friend who has it and she says it's great. She hasn't had any side effects apart from her periods being more regular.

Happy to talk about anything and everything.

Re: The Implant - May 7th 2010, 01:01 PM

I have had the implant for approximately 5 years now.

Unlike the above poster my skin cleared up from being quite bad within 2 months of having it put in, and is now pretty good.

In this time I very rarely have periods and if they do then they are light.

I've not gained any weight.

The vast majority of my friends are on the implant. All of us love it

I'm the only one that had one problem - once I had a VERY LIGHT period that lasted for 3-4 weeks, but it's never happened to anyone I know or happened to me again.

all in all I LOVE the implant! Pain and hassle free. No/few periods. And yup you can use it forever will no fertility impact.

Religion is like a penis.
It's fine to have one.
It's fine to be proud of it.
But please don't whip it out in public and start waving it around.
And PLEASE don't try and shove it down my throat.
