Non-PG13 (Strong Language): Sex with BC pills, no condom. Also, pre-ejaculation?

Alrighty, well... I'm almost done with my second pack of TriNessa birth control pills, and a little bit after I started them, my boyfriend and I started having sex without condoms. I was just wondering if we're still pretty safe since I'm on the pill? I mean I know there's always a chance of pregnancy, but the pill is like 98% effective, isn't it?

Oh, he also makes sure to pull out before he ejaculates. I told him that if he doesn't, we're going back to using condoms. So that plus birth control should be fairly safe, right?

And sorry, haha, one more thing. Since I started giving him hand jobs before we have sex (while he fingers me), he's been squirting out the pre-ejaculation. I've heard that you can get pregnant from that, so if that gets inside of me, would that totally undo the pulling out thing? Even though I'm on birth control?

Ughhh I'm just freaking out because I do NOT want to get pregnant. I know, I know, we should still use condoms. But I'm just wondering if I'm still safe without them?

Wait a minute, which is more effective? (against PREGNANCY, not STIs) The pill? Or condoms?

The pill is more effective when taken correctly. The downfall of a condom is that it can break, and the downfall of the pill is that is doesn't protect you from STD's I suggest that you use the condom. Not all girls use condoms since they've been in a committed relationship for a long time and just use pills. But It's always better to use both. You can always use both. If you don't want to use condoms and the pill you can try spermicide foam as well, the sponge...

Yes, the pill is quite effective at preventing pregnancy by itself, as long as you've been taking it properly (about 98-99% for combination pill). It's more effective than condoms, but they are most effective together. And yes, you can get pregnant from pre-ejaculation, but since you are on the pill, it would be very unlikely.

Truthfully, if the possibility of pregnancy is worrying you that much, it would be better to go back to using condoms as well as the pill. Can I ask why you stopped? (you don't have to answer). My boyfriend and I have only been with each other, and after more than 2 years, we still use the pill and condoms. It's less stressful to know that you have less than 1% chance of getting pregnant and I've found it's a lot less messy with condoms . Plus I think it's a lot nicer for the guy to actually be able to ejaculate rather than having to pull out every time.

I'm not on pills yet so I always use a condom. When I get on pills, I'll continue using condoms so there's no risk of pregnancy. Condoms break pretty easily (though I personally have only experienced one breakage but I've also had a condom fall off inside) the pill, as long as it is taken correctly, is much more effective.

Okay... Think of it this way. The pill tricks your body into thinking it's pregnant. If you're pregnant, you don't release an egg by ovulation. Therefore, you can't get pregnant if there is no egg. You shouldn't have anything to worry about. I've been sexually active for four years on birth control and haven't gotten pregnant due to being responsible.

But there is always the possibility of the pill not working properly and an egg being released. It is extremely rare, but the possibility remains, which is why they say it's only 98% effective. Or perhaps the girl unknowingly takes some medicine that affects the pill's effectiveness. Obviously, you should always check before taking medicine, but if you're really sick and feeling awful, who reads the fine print before taking something?


There is nothing wrong with just taking the pill if you trust your boyfriend to remain faithful. But the extra protection is good for those of us who tend to worry.

If you don't want to get pregnant, I can't see the issue. As you are obviously a rational girl, if you do get pregnant. You will make the rational choice, abortion. It is there for a reason.

my bf and i just use my hormonal bc with no pull out unless i screw it up, then we use the sponge as backup =P

I just had to put my experience in here, when I saw this. I am extremly responsible.. never once missed a pill.. and I DID get pregnant. It DOES happen.

However, we still only use BC and no pull out. (I am not pregnant anymore)
