Different colors - January 24th 2012, 07:19 AM

Have y'all ever had strangely colored discharge? If so, do you know what caused it? I've been having it from pink-ish to brown/black for the past month along with bad cramps. I've tried talking to my mom about it, but she was like "it's normal." I know it's not normal, but I'd have to have a parent take me to the doctor for it because I'm under 18. How should I bring it up to her? Any advice/suggestions?

Has it been going on everyday for the past month? If is has a weird smell to it, then it would be a good reason to go into the doctors. Brown is usually blood mixing with discharge and usually happens before and after periods and its perfectly normal. Pink could just be a light period?
Just tell her you would feel better if you got it checked out. Maybe if she realizes it is something that is really worrying you, she will take you.

I THINK YOU SHOULD KEEP TALKING TO YOUR MOM ABOUT IT AND EVEN IF SHE SAYS IT'S NORMAL, YOU SHOULD GO TO A DOCTOR. AS MELODY SAID, IT MAY BE NORMAL BUT I DON'T THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE ANY CHANCES WHEN IT COMES TO THAT. SO KEEP TALKING TO YOUR MOM.

GOOD LUCK!!

If the discharge has a strange or funny smell, you should definitely continue to bug your mother about it. It's not normal, and ANY infections that go untreated could be dangerous for you. Here is a link of discharge and what's considered abnormal. Give it a once over, and show your mom the website as well. Having proof might help you get her attention: http://women.webmd.com/vaginal-discharge-whats-abnormal

Keep talking to your mom about it or go to an organization where you don't need a parent to just get that checked out. I go to this place called Hillcrest, they are doctors that special in treating women.

I'd see a doctor about that, sweetie. Best to catch anything before it becomes bad. Talk to your mom and say your more comfortable about seeing a doctor now that it's been a while.

In a world filled with diversity, I am just another oddity.
