Lo Loestrine FE and periods (AKA another birth control question) - January 27th 2012, 02:54 PM

Now, I know bleeding and spotting can happen between periods etc etc insert commercial chatter here. I've been on Lo Loestrine FE for five months and I only got the very first period. The rest of the "empty" pills have resulted in nothing more than a bit of spotting and basically no cramps. Cramps are the entire reason I'm taking this. All the spotting has always happened on the days I take the empty pills. But last night my stomach felt like I was starting to get cramps (and bad), but I didn't feel too great in general so I thought maybe I was just sick. This morning I started bleeding, I still can't tell if it's spotting or an actual period, but I shouldn't have anything for another week and a half. It's really annoying because I haven't been buying pads, because I haven't needed them. Instead I get small pantyliners for when I have spotting. I'm not really going to bother with a doctor at this point because I do know that it can happen between periods etc, it's just really annoying.

I guess basically, I'm asking if this has happened to other girls on birth control and if I should start expecting it to happen more. If I continue to get cramps like I have today I'm asking to switch though.

"'Colie, you should never be surprised when people treat you with respect. You should expect it.'
I shook my head. 'You don't know--' I began. But, as usual, she didn't let me finish.
'Yes,' she said simply, 'I do know. I've watched you, Colie. You walk around like a dog waiting to be kicked. And when someone does, you pout and cry like you didn't deserve it.'
'No one deserves to be kicked,' I said.
'I disagree,' she said flatly. 'You do if you don't think you're worth any better...'"

I've had this happen, but only when I've forgotten to take a pill here & there (even with an alarm to remind me, I forget sometimes). Have you been taking the pill as directed. I just read on the LoLoestrin website that bleeding/spotting is common while on this pill, as you said, so I just think this is whats going on. Your body is meant to have a monthly period, so when you began this new pill to help with your cramps, it became confused. So, you may experience heavier bleeding here & there.
