Exclamation Anyone know what this is? - March 3rd 2012, 02:30 PM

Hey!

Okay so I have a really embarrassing problem (well for me it is anyway),
For the past I don't know how many YEARS....I've been having trouble down there...The skin around my vagina is constantly sore! Sometimes to the point its red raw and bleeding I really don't understand cause I never used to have these problems. I have a constant discharge too as well as the sore skin and my skin down there is always feeling tight and appears shiny It also gets very itchy I can't shave down there like I wanna cause its so so sore

I'm a virgin so this can't be a sexually transmitted infection cause well...I haven't had the sex lol

Please tell me someone has some idea of what this is or what I can do! I'm so fed up now I'm 18 and would never consider letting a male down there cause of the state it seems to be in

Hey love, obviously none of us here can give you a diagnosis and I'm about to say what everyone else who is going to reply will say: go to the doctor.

Personally it sounds to me like you might have thrush, which most women will get at some stage and is really common. You can contract it at almost any time and not necessarily from sex!! It can be easily treated with cream to stop the itching and soreness and tablets to get rid of it at the source.

That's what it sounds like to me, but it could be some other sort of infection. Either way, something is not right and you shouldn't have to put up with it!! If you visit your GP they can help you sort it out ASAP. The sooner you go the better (:

Totally agreed. We cannot diagnose you & the only way to fix the problem is to see your doctor.

I would also recommend you just see a doctor but a clarifying question, what do you mean by around your vagina? Around your vulva (the entire female genital area) or just around the vaginal opening?

Regardless if you're an MREMT or not, we still can't diagnose a certain problem. It's sort of against the rules because we aren't doctors. Only doctors can perform things such as a diagnosis.

If it's concerning you so much, I'd go to your doctor. It could be a Urinary Tract Infection that has spread, or it could be a yeast infection, as Jamesman said. The only way to know for sure is to bring up your concerns with your GP, and getting proper treatment for whatever it is might be wrong. As for your constant discharge, as long as it doesn't have a strange smell or color, you're fine. I have constant discharge myself, no matter what time of the month. It's aggravating, but wearing a small pantyliner will help with that as it won't ruin your underwear and you won't feel constantly wet all day long.

Good for you, I'm sure you are aware that even as an NREMT-B you cannot diagnose or even treat without being under the control of a medical director. I'd also like to point out that EMT is nothing more than a (slightly) advanced first aid.

And it is *not* a yeast infection. That would present with a colored discharge, horrible smell, and pain during urination. Please stop giving medical advice where you don't understand it.

I would see a doctor, that sounds very worrying, especially if you say this has been happening for years. We cannot diagnose you with diseases, and this sounds very worrying to me, STI status. I just want to clarify that STIs do not mean that you are dirty. People get infections, and they can happen anywhere. Just take care of this before it gets any worse.

To me, it sounds like a yeast infection..but like everyone else has said you should see a doctor to get a true diagnosis.
If you have vaseline at your house, I would suggest putting it on the sore areas just to calm it down a bit..it won't make it go away or anything but it will help with the itching and soreness until you get something to actually help you get rid of it.
Best of luck hun!

it sounds like thrush, you dont need to have sex to get that, and, if you dont get it sorted it can stay for a while. see your doctor to get some advice and medication (if you dont want to and i mean its a good idea to but yanno... try vagisil cream before you go and see if it helps)

The doctor would be the best right now, but I was wondering...
Could it be caused by your period?

Please go to a doctor. It might be a bacteria infection. It also might be dry skin.
