I'm not sure whats going on.... - February 22nd 2010, 11:12 PM

So my period was due last sunday (Feb. 14th) and it didn't come. I wasn't too worried because in January my period was two days late and very light. So on Friday (the 19th) I took a pregnancy test, it was positive. I've been really freaked out and only two other people know (only one who is really involved), but this Sunday night and today I've had some bleeding. Its not as heavy as a normal period, but its not just spotting either. I am calling the health department tomorrow to make an appointment to see what is going on. Usually it takes a week before I can get in, but I just want to know if anyone has any ideas as to what is going on or if there is something I should do in the meantime. I'm really nervous. I don't know what decision to make or anything and I feel like any decision I do make, is going to be the wrong one. But, for right now, I'm just wondering about the positive test and the bleeding...

I had quite a bit of bleeding early in my pregnancy that came and went. Part of it could be implantation bleeding (happens when the baby attaches to the uterus).

If you got a positive test, there is a good chance you are pregnant. Its great that you made an appointment to verify the pregnancy, thats the first step. If you are pregnant and want to keep the baby its important to start taking prenatal vitamins right away. Then you'll want to get established with a doctor for your prenatal care.

You also have the options of adoption and abortion. I'm not sure where you live, but here you can have a medical abortion up until 8 weeks (makes it more like a miscarriage), and a surgical one up until 12 weeks.

Good luck with everything, and PM if you have anymore questions.

I was trying to find other things the bleeding could be, because I thought that implantation bleeding was just kind of light and more of spotting, but the bleeding I had was heavier than spotting. I came across a site that said bleeding could be a sign of a miscarriage.... is it possible to miscarry so early in a pregnancy? If I did miscarry, what happens next? Like is there still a fetus or whatever that has to be taken care of? And also, what causes a miscarriage? Would it be something I did wrong? I don't think I want a baby, but just thinking about a miscarriage makes me feel kind of empty and depressed, I mean it would be like I don't even have the decision and I feel like thats not fair. I have my appointment tomorrow at 8:30 in the morning... so I guess I'll find out then. :\

A miscarriage and happen at any time in the pregnancy. (2 weeks along, 37 weeks along etc)
Miscarriages do not happen because of anything the mother does, so don't stress over that. (Unless you've intentionally done something to harm the fetus)

Implantation bleeding can be different for everyone. Some don't even get it, while others can get a heavier flow. My implantation bleeding was just a bit lighter than a normal period, but only lasted two days.

Try not to stress yourself out until you see a doctor and get the pregnancy confirmed.

Alright, well I certaintly didn't do anything to intentionally harm it. I wouldn't do something like that. And I had a positive test on Friday (like 5 days after my missed period) as I said, and since Sunday night I've had bleeding. It started out light, got a little heavier, was heavy for a while and now its gone back down to a light flow. So its been about three days now. I'll be going to the doctor in the morning. Thanks for the information. :]

So, I was told today that I had a chemical pregnancy. Which basically the way they explained it to me was that I was pregnant, an egg was fertilized, but due to some unknown reason it couldn't implant and therefore my period came (the heavy bleeding sunday and monday) and I had an early miscarriage. I feel a big sense of relief, but at the same time, I'm also kind of sad about it. I mean I know it was nothing I did wrong, but I just feel like I did and I feel like its my fault and I feel guilty and terrible and crappy and I just, I just feel sad about it. I know I'm too young for it, but it was me and him and it was us and now its nothing and I feel like nothing...

don't feel bad about it hun, there's nothing you could have done, it didn't happen this time around. I suggest you look into safer sex and enjoy living baby free for now and decide when the time is right to have a little one

It wasn't your fault, and nothing you could have done would have stopped it from happening.
