Your parents might just want to make you wait, they might not even have a reason. Or it may just be way more exciting at 20 weeks.
Also, as Angelina said, it will be more accurate at 20 weeks than at 12. Ultimately, it's up to you what you want to do. And I'm sure if you were persistent enough with asking why to wait, they'll answer eventually. Or even ask your doctor what he thinks, as he should know. If he doesn't, I'd imagine your parents may just be picky or something. ![]() Goodluck! [you can fly, but that only

I say that you should go ahead and do it if you are still going to get a u/s at 20 weeks. Just know that the gender may be wrong, and wait it out until 20 weeks to see if it was right or not. I would never pass off an opportunity to see my unborn baby honestly, lol.

Its sounds like you really want to know... so Id say go for it! (I probably would too
)But like the others have said... might not be as accurate, but you'll find out for sure at 20 wks. Your parents might be saying that because they want you to have the same pregnancy experience as everyone else? That's just a guess. Maybe they think its more exciting to wait the full 20 weeks. By then, you are starting to get the bump and you feel pregnant lol. More so than at 12 wks. When reality is a prison, your mind can set you free. |

As everyone else has said, its more accurate at 20 weeks, but if you really want to know, go for it.
Just don't rush out and by gender-specific clothing and everything until the 20-week ultrasound when you know for sure. |

They told you to wait because at 12 weeks it's very very unlikely that the prediction will be correct.
Even at 20 weeks, there's still a chance that the tech was wrong. Your best bet is to just wait it out to 20 weeks, get an answer then. If you do it at 12 weeks you may start buying clothes for the baby only to find out you're having a completely different gender. Which could also lead to some emotional issues etc .:6:21 a.m.:. .:12-01-2007:. .:Logan Jacob:. My Everything I support Project Linus! I was told to wait until atleast 20 weeks, even with the 3d ultrasounds. I know how you feel though, I TOTALLY wanted to know right away what I was having.

sounds like a good plan. might not want to start telling people the gender until the 20 week either or if you do just tell them its not definite yet =P

To be honest, I wouldn't start buying anything after 20 weeks either. Not if you're buying gender-specific clothing etc. Even with a 20 week ultrasound, there is still a reasonable probability that it'll be wrong.
A friend of mine recently had a baby. They had been told it was a girl. They had bought everything for her, had named her, were referring to her by her name. Then of course just a few weeks before, they found out that their baby was a boy. You should just be careful, ultrasounds definitely aren't perfect. |
