Oral Contraceptives - April 10th 2010, 03:33 AM

Does anybody know of any Brith control for lets say... 35 day menstral cycles? I have a longer menstral cycle than 30 days and it seems really unhealthy to try to make them just 30 days...

I've used birth control pills before but I didn't like how it made me so irregular and messed up.

How long were you on the birth control pills? Because they are supposed to regulate your cycle to 28 days. A lot of girls take them just because they have irregular periods. So I don't see why they would have made yours more irregular unless you didn't take them for very long?

The point of the pill is to override your usual cycle, so I doubt you would be able to find any that are for differing cycle lengths. If you think it is unhealthy, then all hormonal methods do basically the same thing, so maybe a hormonal method isn't for you? Personally, I strongly recommend a hormonal method because they have the greatest effectiveness rates for preventing pregnancy, but it's your choice.

I agree with the above poster, birth control pills have been proven to be more effective than condoms. It may take a couple of months but the pill will make your cycle exactly 28 days long, which is handy so that you know exactly which day your period is due. (I get mine every fourth Thursday ) It's not unhealthy exactly, but if you're not comfortable with the idea of the amount of hormones in your body you could try another form of contraception.

yup. bc pills are supposed to regulate the cycle to 28 days. its not unhealthy even if your cycle is usually long. they might screw you up a bit at first but when youre on them a while it should even out. theres also pills like seasonale that let you have 4 periods a year
