scared. - July 3rd 2011, 05:37 PM

i had sex on may 30th and i was due for my period on june 3rd. didn't get it.. it is now july 3rd and still no sign of my period..
i have no signs of being pregnant besides missing my period.
as most of you know, i had a miscarriage a year and a half ago and if i am pregnant, i'm scared it's going to happen again.
i'm not sure of the point of this post.. i guess i'm just looking for support and advice..

Have you taken a pregnancy test yet? If it's been that long since you've had sex a good time to test would be now. As hard as it might be, try not to worry too much. You don't know yet if you're pregnant and stress does no good for your body. Take the test, and go on from there. Just take things one step at a time. ♥

Take care, lovely.

Yes, I agree with Angel. You can't know for sure until you take a pregnancy test, and now is a good time to take it. You've missed one or two periods now, so it's definitely possible. Did you have any symptoms last time?

A miscarriage is a horrible thing to go through, but if you identify the pregnancy early, and tell your doctors about the miscarriage, then they can monitor you more closely to keep you and the baby from too much danger. While it's hard to do anything, this should hopefully give you some comfort.

However, have you lost a lot of weight recently? This could be the source of your missing period. Also, if you're stressed, that can cause missed periods too.

Hope everything's okay, and remember we're always here to support you <3

I would take a pregnancy test. It's the only way to know for sure. While miscarrying is a terrible thing to go through, finding out your pregnant now can keep you from that experience again. You will get an accurate test result, and you need to take one in order to move on.

Re: scared. - July 3rd 2011, 07:54 PM

i haven't taken a pregnancy test cuz i'm scared of the results. i don't want to get my hopes up to watch them fall. even though i know it's what i need to do.
i didn't have any symptoms the last time other than feeling nauseous sometimes and missing my period. so i took a test and it was positive and about 2 weeks later when i was about to tell everyone, i miscarried.
i haven't lost a lot of weight lately. i also haven't been under a lot of stress. i've been doing okay with everything up until i realized i missed my period. actually, i just weighed myself and i gained 6 pounds.
i guess i'll have to take a test. it's the only way to calm my nerves or protect myself and the baby from another miscarriage.
wish me luck.
and thanks for the support xx

Just keep in mind that the results won't change whether you test or not. Good luck. x

Not really. Doctors usually can't do anything to prevent a miscarriage in the first trimester. The only time they can really prevent it is if you have a history of low progesterone and that can be fixed with a supplement but thats not extremely common.

OP I have had 2 miscarriages and am currently pregnant again. It is nerve wrecking, and you worry, a lot. I wish there was some magic thing to do or say to make you not worry, but there isn't. As some conselation for you, having only one miscarriage doesn't make you have higher risk for another. Having one miscarriage is completely normal, as most women will have atleast one in their lifetime, although most are before the woman ever knows she is pregnant and just thinks it is a heavy period.

Good luck with everything, I wish you the best.

You could still be pregnant, so I advise you to go to your doctor and get a proper pregancy test done.

Other possibilities include:
o Not ovulating - many women miss a period once or twice a year, simply because they don't ovulate that month. It's nothing to worry about, but if it happens often, then you should see a doctor.
o Hypothyroidism/underactive thyroid (same thing, different names.) Other symptoms include tiredness, and weight gain (you mentioned you gained weight.) If you think it's possible, you can have your doctor test for this.
o Change in schedules/medication/diet. Have you recently changed your waking hours/medication/diet? This can disrupt your cycle.
o Deficiency - especially iron deficiency - can also cause menstrual problems.

Source: A few Google searches!

Hope everything's okay <3

I was tested for hypothyroidism about 3 or 4 months ago and they said nothing was wrong with my thyroid. I also haven't changed my diet, medication, or anything like that. I guess I'll just have to make an appointment with my doctor.

They can test for other things too. You could ask them to test again for hypothyroidism - sometimes results are inaccurate. My mum's friend had a hypothyroidism test which came back negative, but still had the same problems, so was retested and the result was positive.

I STRONGLY advise you to make an appointment with your doctor.

Wishing you the best <3

Hey, I'm actually having the same issue with basically the same dates. I haven't miscarried before though, so I can't relate to that.

But I am going to the doctor on Monday. Let us know what happens!

Still no results. Took another test and it's negative.
I'm getting really frustrated. Cuz I FEEL like it should be positive.
I think I'm going to have to figure something out because right now I don't have medical insurance and no supportive people in my life to turn to. They think since I got a negative result I should wait til I get my period... but what if it never comes? I don't know. :/

Is there any way you could go to a Planned Parenthood or a free clinic or something like that? There should be one within driving distance, if not in your direct area. You should really see a doctor about this.

^This is not true at all. Just because one person had a miscarriage and then a healthy pregnancy doesn't mean that everybody who has a miscarriage will then have a living baby. We can hope that things will work out well, but can't promise it.

Miscarriages are horrible awful things.
And I'm so sorry, but from what you've described it sounds like you're having one.

PLEASE go to your doctor! There may not be much they can do, but they can keep you safe, or at least confirm it actually was a miscarriage. Is the bleeding heavier than your normal period? If it is, then chances are it's a miscarriage, I'm so sorry.

I really REALLY hope everything's okay, but please stay strong and we're all here for you <3

Yes, the bleeding is much much heavier. I usually only bleed heavily for one day then it's very light. But I've been heavily bleeding since Wednesday.

As for going to the doctor, I made my way to the doctor earlier this morning and they confirmed a miscarriage. I was 9 weeks pregnant.

I don't know how I'm going to get through this again.

Oh Brittany

I am so sorry you've had to go through this. Once is bad enough, but twice is heart breaking. I think, judged by how you've been speaking, you should try some sort of councelling or therapy to help you get through this. Maybe ask in the Death and Grieving forum for more advice.

I am so sorry. Please stay strong. You may be the mother to two angels, but you need to stay strong so you can have children in future. I believe you can make it through this.

Please stay safe <3

I am so sorry. I know how it feels to go through it twice. I know this hurts, physically and emotionally, but know that you will get through this, even though it feels like the hurt will always be as overwhelming as it is right now. The holes in our heart that are made by miscarriage never fully heal, but they do slowly get less painful. I wish no one ever had to feel the pain from a miscarriage, let alone the pain and hurt from reuccurant miscarriages.

I am doing alright. I have a lot of support from my boyfriend and he's been helping me through this along with the lovely people I've met on this forum. It's hard, but I know if I keep my head up I'll be okay.
