How do I get rid of stretchmarks?

No I'm not pregnant, but I know that many people do get stretchmarks when they are pregnant so I figured this would be the best catefory to post my question is. The only difference is they are on my thighs instead of my stomach because I haven't been using enough lotion and grew a couple inches so... how do I get rid of them. The sun never comes out here so I can't tan.

You can't ever make them fully go away unless you do the very expensive laser surgery. However, there is some lotions out there specifically for stretch marks. You can find them in your local pharmacies. However, these lotions only approve them. They don't make them go away fully. To do so, like I said would to do the surgery. Here are some good ones: Mederma, Celtrixa, and of course Palmers Cocoa Butter lotion works too. I've used this as well.

Honestly, there isn't much you can do. Stay hydrated with lots of water and hydrate your skin with lots of lotion to prevent too many more but even that is mostly genetics. With time they fade substantially, I have noticed when I am tan they are less noticable but they will never go away unless you want to spend thousands and thousands on plastic surgery

there isn't much you can do that will be a perfect fix, there are lotions such as aloe... if anything there are more ways to prevent them like making sure your skin is always soft and hydrated, drink lots of water and don't let your legs get too dry. A quick fix for stretch marks and cellulite is to use used coffee grounds as an exfoiliant. Put them in an old nylon/panty hose and scrub your legs in the bath, the affects won't last forever but the caffiene will smooth your skin.

Stretch marks are easier to prevent than treat.

Once you have them, there's not much you can do other than wait for them to fade to white lines (which they will in time).

To prevent further ones appearing, try using Bio Oil. My friend used this throughout her pregnancy and didn't get a single stretch mark.

They'll fade, but they won't ever totally go away.

There's a Bio Oil especially formulated for stretchmarks. It has a picture of a pregnant lady on the packet, and I think it comes in a pump instead of a squeezy bottle, so it's pretty easy to differentiate between the two. You could try 'surgery' at some time in the future if they don't improve. I say surgery loosely, because it's a procedure that uses tiny needles on a roller across the affected area, to encourage collagen production to fade the stretch marks, but even this doesn't make them go away fully, but does make them fade significantly! Basically, drink more water and put on lotion. It will help PREVENT more than help them go away, though it will help them fade quicker.

I've heard tanning is the best solution, unfortunately.
