Finally found my home birth midwife and had my first prenatal!

I met with another home birth midwife today (the 5th one I have talked to in total) and I absolutely loved her! I ended up hiring her and we went ahead and did my first prenatal while I was there. She checked baby's heartbeat and confirmed what I was hearing was in fact my baby and not me, it was a lovely 162 bpm. Then she checked my cervix because I told her my concerns with the prolapse (a few weeks ago my cervix was AT my vaginal opening, now it has gone back up about 2 inches and is slanted) and she said with the pregnancy pulling it back up, it should be fine but to continue my squats and kegals and everything I have been doing. My protein level is low, but that is to be expected since the sight of meat has been making me sick, I am going to start protein shakes tomorrow. We did the initial blood draw and talked for about an hr (about 2 hrs total including the interview) and then I left. I love the fact that I can get to know the person taking care of me and my baby and she is getting to know me too. And another awesome thing, I was looking around (she has a home office) and noticed a chest protector for riding dirtbikes, so we talked about that for awhile too, my younger sister and my SO both race cross country dirtbikes so it is pretty awesome having a midwife with similar hobbies as our family!

We are waiting until birth to find out the sex, so you can start now using gender neutral colors if you want!

Amber, this is so great! I love hearing about home births.
It's really wonderful that you get to have that sort of relationship with your midwife. This is essentially what I'd like out of my career once I get out of school.

So excited for you. If I ever have kids, I've always thought about doing a home birth... I can't wait to hear about your pregnancy as it progresses and about your baby's birth. Can't wait to see pictures of the little guy/gal.

Yeah, I've found the colors I want to use, and the brand of yarn.. Just need to wait for hubby to make his job change in the next few weeks and will get started.

Looking at patterns I haven't done before, so still need to figure out which pattern I want to use.
