For those of you with children - - August 30th 2011, 03:49 AM

Looking for tips for a friend.

(I work with kids and have potty trained many times before, just seeing what's worked for yall)

How did you potty train your son/daughter? How lond did it take, what all did you try?

Well the first time we tried, my mother in law ruined it by letting him stand outside with pee in his under wear. :|

The second time we tried was a few months after that. We let him pick out new underwear got some foamy stickers, and made up a sticker chart. Every time he peed in the potty for at least 5 days out of the week we would take him to the store and get him a toy car for $1.

Once he was comfortable with going pee, we made a poo chart, and when he would poo on the potty he would get a few gummy bears, and if he did it for at least 5 days we would take him to the store and get him another toy car.

It took him bout 2 to 3 months to be fully trained.

Kain was odd with potty training. I would try to get him to go in the potty but he just wasn't ready, what he loved to do was pee outside. But it really was something I just had to wait on him with, one night when he was 2 1/2 I told him that we were out of pull ups and he had on the last one so tomorrow would be a big boy underwear day and something just clicked. He has been wearing underwear ever since. I can count on one hand the amount of accidents he has had since that day, including night time. When he was ready he was just ready

"omg i might be pregnant!?!?!"

its simply persistance, I've started with putting my son on the toilet after meals and naps, he's still a little young but he's succeeded in going in the potty a few times (as he's not quite at the stage of talking too well) when he points to his diaper I'll walk him to the potty and let him sit and if he does go for mommy and daddy we really make a huge deal of with by praising him.
