I'm quite glad that you were able to speak to your mother honestly about the pregnancy. You should be acting on this pregnancy for the best interests of yourself and of your child. It must be quite a relief to have your mother's support at a time like this.
I wish you all the best from here on out. Keep us updated. :) |

You do not 'HAVE' to breastfeed your baby.
It's going to be your choice, but I would suggest reading up on the benefits of breastfeeding before you decide which way to go. Also read up on formula feeding. That way you have information and can make the choice as to which is better for you and your child. .:6:21 a.m.:. .:12-01-2007:. .:Logan Jacob:. My Everything I support Project Linus! The developing baby is most susceptible to deficiencies in the first few weeks of life so the sooner you start, the less likely the chance of defects. |

In medical school we have been told that the earlier you start taking them, the better and that it is best to start before you get pregnant but in the case of an unplanned pregnancy, you should start taking them as soon as you know you are pregnant. However, if you are further along in pregnancy, if you were deficient in folic acid amongst other things during early pregnancy, there are greater risks of defects such as spina bifida and these will not be corrected by taking the vitamins late in pregnancy. That being said, it won't hurt to take them

If you are halfway through and have not seen a doctor yet, then yes, go to the store and pick up a bottle of pre-natals. Or two bottles of Flinstones, and take two finstones a day.
Either way, your baby and your body need the vitamins, so better to start now then to continue waiting. .:6:21 a.m.:. .:12-01-2007:. .:Logan Jacob:. My Everything I support Project Linus!
