I'm Late - November 26th 2011, 03:08 PM

I have NEVER been late before. Ever ever ever ever ever! Actually, I have just started taking birth control to regulate my cycles. I actually have been getting my periods EARLY. So I end up with two a month instead of one. Anyway, I have only been taking it for a month. This is my first month and I know birth control does not take effect for the first two weeks. I had intercourse during those first two weeks without protection. It was completely the heat of the moment kind of thing and once it happened it was an "Oops didn't mean for that to happen!!!!" kind of thing.

So anyway, on the website for the birth control I have been taking, Generess Fe, it says that if I miss a period I need to make sure I am not pregnant because if I am I need to stop taking the birth control right away. Also, it says that missing one period may not mean anything, yet I'm not so sure since I never have missed one.

If I am pregnant, I have NO money to pay the medical bills AT ALL. My mom doesn't either, and my dad just ignores me. The guy also does not have a job at the moment so there's only so much he can do as well. He says he'd support any decision I make. Anyway, if I am, there is nothing I can do for it. Just.... ugh. What now?

Also, I sure hope it is just a coincendence (sp?) that I have been feeling sick these last couple of days....

If you're pregnant, you wouldn't be experiencing any kind of symptoms this early. But, of course, the only way to find out if you are pregnant is to take a test. I can't tell you if you are or aren't. So, that should be the first thing you do. It's been about two weeks since you've had unprotected sex, so you should get an accurate result on a pregnancy test if you were to take one now.

Taking birth control can mess up your cycle before it regulates it. I'm sensing that this is the reason why you haven't had your period yet since you JUST began taking birth control. However, you need to calm down and not freak out. Stressing out can make your period come late, or not at all for that matter. You could even put your mind in a state where it thinks it's pregnant. That's called an hysterical pregnancy. Never assume something until you know for sure what's going on. Take a test, and then you can figure out your options.

Re: I'm Late - November 26th 2011, 04:36 PM

It's actually been about three to four weeks since I had unprotected sex, and according to my doctor I should of already have my period. I was told that during the first month I really wouldn't notice a change and I have been having my period every two weeks. Ever since the first pill, I haven't had any signs of my period what so ever and I find it odd that it would be like this right away and not only that, but I should have it now if it was regular, but still nothing and I am very concerned.

I am going to take a test tomorrow when I can actually get a test. I need to know so I can stop taking the birth control if I need to. I'm trying to stay calm, but I have never had this happen so I'm extreamely worried.

Thanks for your advice though, but I'm not sure how I can calm down.

Since it's nearly been a month since you had unprotected sex, you could definitely take a test and get an accurate result. Make sure you check the expiration dates on whichever test you buy; they're usually on the side of the boxes where they can be opened. If the date is past the expiration, make sure you choose another pregnancy test.

Also, keep in mind that the best time to take a pregnancy test is in the morning, first thing, with the first urine 'sample' of the day. The hCG hormone, or also commonly known as the pregnancy hormone, is more potent in the morning than any other time of the day. Read the instructions, and follow them carefully!

Keep us updated on how things go, and just try to remain calm. I know it seems impossible, but with the added stress, you're just going to worry all the time and you shouldn't have too until you know for sure. Best of luck!

I agree with Zelophobia take the test to make sure. If you are pregnant talk to your partner, parents, or someone else close about your options.

Thanks guys, I will be sure to do that! I already talked to my boyfriend about it and he says he supports whatever I decide to do. I won't bother saying anything to anyone else until after I know for sure.
