Miscarriage? - March 11th 2012, 01:26 AM

So, I'm on birth control, but I'm not very good with it. This round I kinda forgot to take 4 pills in a row. That was at the end and my blank pills started the next day.
I got my period but today I found a light pinkish 'membrane'-y type thing. Sorta looked like a worm, gross, I know.
I had terrible cramps before hand.
Did I have a miscarriage?...

It could either be because you forgot or it could be a miscarriage, which at that early it would be more considered a chemical pregnancy, I had one once it was painful...I even had a faint positive pregnancy a week before and then it went to being negative, followed by the worst stomach cramps ever. So that's what it could be. But it could also be from missing a couple days.

I had this happen to me a couple of years ago, while I was at work. I had no significant pain, just felt a huge rush of blood and something like a membrane came out. Now, if you think you might have had a miscarriage, or this incident is causing you any concern, you should definitely ask or consult your/a doctor. This could have came from missing so many pills in a row, or it could likely have been a miscarriage. Did you experience any light bleeding within the last month? If so, that could be a sign that you were pregnant, and that light bleeding is called implantation bleeding.

Re: Miscarriage? - March 11th 2012, 06:31 PM

I remember when I had my miscarriage a couple of months ago back in January. For a while I had a very very light bleeding that was actually a very light pink color and it stopped after a while ( as mentioned before, implantation bleeding). After about a week or week and a half, I started getting very very bad cramps where I couldn't move and then there was a rush of blood and I did have some tissue come out.

So, it MIGHT be possible that you were pregnant and did have a miscarriage.

My angel, my angel in heaven above. My angel, my darling, you'll always have my love. Rest in peace, my sweet darling, it's only temporary that we part. My angel, my angel, how you still do steal my heart </3

If it was from missing your pills, it could have just been a clot of blood. They are sometimes firm, but squishy, and gooey. They can be pale pink or dark red or even almost black in color.

You said you missed 4 pills then started the 'placebo' pills, correct? THEN you had the bleeding? So if you had the bleeding during the placebo pills, it's likely it was just your period.

Have you had sex in the last month? If so, was a condom used? It would take at least a week from the last time you had sex to implant.

Basically, if you had the bleeding immediately after missing those pills or during or soon after the placebo pills, it was very likely it's just from missing those four pills.

If you had a miscarriage, you would have had to had it at least 1 week after sex. It takes about a week to implant. Also, most early miscarriages will last a couple hours to a week. So you will be bleeding for hours, then stop after the embryo comes out, and the same applies to if you bleed for a week. It stops once the embryo comes out.

Also, go to the doctor. If it is a miscarriage, they can test the blood to see if it is or is not. Though it depends on how early in the pregnancy you were.
