What age is a good age to tell your parents about your sexuality -
May 31st 2016, 12:41 AM
I'm 13 and identify myself as Bi. I know my parents are okay with me liking girls because this came up into a conversation about a year ago. I don't know if I should wait to tell them or tell them now. I'm afraid if I tell them now they won't believe me, what should I do?

Hey you,
Really only you can decide when is the right time for a conversation like that. Some parents can offer unbelievable amounts of support and guidance when growing up and trying to figure yourself out, others offer the complete and total opposite.
All I can say is don't be in such a hurry to slap a label on yourself and love who you love.

Revenge is a poison meant for others that we end up swallowing ourselves.
Vengeance is a dark light that blinds all who seek it.
The untroubled soul knows there is no justice in revenge.
The untroubled soul knows that to seek vengeance, is to seek destruction.

Hey, there! Only you will know when the time comes where you need to tell your parents about your sexuality. You can do it now, so they're aware when you get a girlfriend or boyfriend, but they'll already be accepting of it from what I can tell. Or you can wait until you do get a girlfriend or boyfriend, and then officially come out to your parents. For me, I'd rather come out before I begin dating someone but that's just me. Everyone is different.

I don't think there is a set age to come out. Everyone reaches the point where they are ready to come out at different stages and different ages. It all depends on when you feel safe and comfortable to do so. If that's now that is okay but if you want to wait that is okay too.

Hey there,
I know this might not be the answer that you're looking for, but this really is completely up to you. It all depends on whether or not you are ready for them to know. Different people reach that point at different ages. If you feel like you're comfortable enough to tell them and that you're in a safe place to do so, then I don't think it would be a bad idea to tell them. If you're not quite ready, however, that's completely okay too!
