Question A second fall out with my best friend - October 12th 2014, 08:04 AM

Hey everyone,
I'm a 15 year old male, and my best friend is a 15 year old girl. We're not dating, but we've been really close friends for years now. I only see her once a week if I'm lucky. But, we've had a second misunderstanding.
It happened earlier this year. I thought that she just wasn't interested anymore, and any general conversation I tried to have with her just didn't work. I thought that she didn't wannt to talk to me anymore, and I started to give her space. Turns out that she goes home really upset as she thinks that I hate talking to her. That's the general idea.
It's happend again only two days ago and I'm really unsure what to do! If anyone could gives some advice, that'd be great.
Thanks so much for listening,
Ben

Hey there,

My advice would be to get in touch with her and explain the misunderstanding. Be honest and tell her exactly what you've written here, that you were giving her space because you thought she wasn't interested in talking to you anymore. You could also explain why you thought she lost interest with you. Perhaps she isn't even aware that's how she was coming off. Honest communication is key when it comes to any relationship whether it's platonic or romantic.

I hope this helped a bit and that you're able to sort things out with her.
Take care. :]

Hi Ben,

Sorry to hear that. Boys and girls can definitely have misunderstandings as tend to interpret the world and our relationships differently. She just needs you to clarify that you didn't mean to hurt her feelings and that you're still interested in talking to her :-)
