How do you cope?(For those of you in Long Diatnce relationships) - April 5th 2010, 01:10 AM

My girlfriend lives 2.5 hours east of me. It's an easy drive, it's just expensive gas wise, and until I start this job I'll be short on cash.

I visited her this weekend, and when I had to leave... I nearly cried the whole way home haha.

I've been in an LDR before, but I was younger and a barren plain of emotion then. Haha.

So my question would be, what do you do to cope with moments like that?

Often I lie wide awake, thinking of things I could make.
But I don’t seem to have the parts to build them.
I am so scared of what will kill me in the end, for I am not prepared.
I hope I will get the chance to be someone, to be human.

My boyfriend lives in England, and I'm having this same issue with coping; it's especially bad since we met for the first time in February. I guess my advice would be that you have to let yourself feel it, you have to cry, you have to process, and with each passing day, it gets a little bit easier. One thing that really helped me was having my boyfriend leave a shirt behind (he accidently left two ), because it was nice to cuddle something that smelt like him. Another thing that helped me was writing him on FB, texting him etc. with random thoughts throughout the day until I no longer felt like bawling about his being gone. And now, I simply deal by spending as much time with him as I can and counting down the days until I get to see him again.
