Girls with or without make-up? -
April 29th 2010, 06:43 PM
I've been reading loads of posts here lately by guys who are saying they don't like girls wearing make-up. I know loads of guys irl who dislike girls wearing make-up too. Most of the guys I know who like it seem to be gay :/
I used to wear quite a bit of make-up and still do if I'm going out somewhere, I think it makes me look a lot better. I just wear foundation to cover acne, lip gloss and clear mascara otherwise. It annoys me when I see really pretty girls wear crap loads of make-up but I think a bit can look quite nice. ![]() |

It depends. I like girls with make up and without make up.
But natural make up is the way to go, best of both worlds

Last year my boyfriend persuaded me to go without make-up for a while (just foundation) and he seemed to prefer it much better.
Personally though, I feel much more confident with make-up (not that I wear very much) ~ although it's ironic that guys can't get us to understand that they prefer us without. I think it's because the point of make-up is to accentuate our features ~ make our eyes look bigger, our skin look smoother, our lips look kissable ~ but so many girls take it a bit too far. Personally I would be turned off by a girl, no matter how hot she was, if she went overboard on the make-up. The whole furry orange face thing just isn't really a turn on... :/ Don't take life too seriously; no one gets out alive anyway. i think a lot of guys say they prefer natural girls because they dont want to sound shallow.. but have you noticed around school/college or whatever, the girls that make an effort with their make-up (not go overboard.. orange etc) usually get more lads than the girls that dont make an effort and go all natural?

I personally have recently gotten into makeup. I think its a lovely way of expression (in my life). My boyfriend used to say he didn't like me to wear makeup. So I went without for awhile. Then he started suggesting certain things lol. There's nothing wrong in innocent improvement/creativity. |

My friend jokingly told me once the reason boyfriend tell their girlfriends not to wear any makeup is to make sure other guys don't look at them. lol! I don't know how true that is, but I thought it was an interesting concept. xD

Sometimes I like to be in the pressence of a emo/scene girl with loads of make-up. Sometimes I appreciate having eye-candy!

I hardly ever wear it anymore, I only wear it when we are going out somewhere special, but even then its hardly ever. I don't feel as though I need to, but do every now and then when I want to dress up. Day to day, no

Haha, i would never wear no make-up.. for ANY guy.
Most guys i've asked about it don't have a really strong opinion on it. Most of them just say they don't really mind.. But they don't like it if girls absolutely cake it on. |

I don't wear make-up at all.
I don't do my hair, have never dyed it, get it styled (as in straightened, HAH, so not necessarily styled) and trimmed only when necessary, etc. etc. If I'm going out somewhere nice, I'll put on some lip gloss and mascara, but that's the extent to which I'll go. I'm not sure where boyfriend stands on it. I feel like he'd like me/support me with or without make-up, though he tells me I'm no less beautiful without it than with the little I put on once in a blue moon. I like to dress up for him, and look pretty, of course, especially when I first see him at the airport (for the first time in months ), but that doesn't involve make-up, usually clothes that make me feel attractive! As for girls, I love natural beauty. I've seen girls at my school spend 30-60 minutes on their make-up, I've seen girls spend 10 minutes, and I've seen girls not even bother, and the less time spent on their make-up, the prettier I find them to be. This doesn't mean that I don't find girls who do wear make-up attractive, as occasionally, I do, and yes, I will flatter them or give them attention... However, these aren't the girls I would want to be with, as I'd want someone with enough confidence to be themselves, not girls that would turn tricks for any guy (or girly, if they swing that way ) who offered a compliment, not girls that take more time in the bathroom than I do, not girls who are so obsessed with their appearance that they border on insecure, etc.

TBH, i don't wear huge amounts of make up day to day, but i don't think i could go without make up, i just wouldn't feel right, i think for a lot of girls make up gives them some added confidence, and i don't think anyone has the right to say to someone STOP WEARING MAKE UP.
It's understandable with the orange faced, pink lipstick, overloaded eyemake up but they're obviously comfortable with that, so whats the problem in that. All that implies is that wearing large amounts of make-up will attract more boys in the short-run. Nothing new there... outward appearances are usually the first thing that people (and animals!) focus on. xD But have you noticed how many girls (both with and without make-up) are in loving, healthy relationships?
I don't wear make-up. It's easy for my face to break out, so I can't even risk putting foundation on. I've only applied make-up for formal events and theatrical performances. And frankly, my boyfriend HATES it when I apply make-up... he says it doesn't look like "me" anymore. Although... I do think certain looks, with excessive make-up around the eyes, are incredibly sexy. xD I kind of wish I had the time every day to give myself "raccoon" eyes, or whatever you call them. ![]() HelpLINK Mentor : Article Editor : Disputes Committee Member : Performance Committee Member Forum Moderator (Relationships and Dating, Friends and Family, Mental Health, Education and Careers) Feel free to contact me anytime, about anything! =) "There's no cure for normal." - PSY |

I prefer girls without or little make-up. A little lip gloss or eyeliner is okay with me as long it's not overdone. I think 10lbs of make-up can make someone look really bad in my opinion.

I never got into make up, never saw the point of it. I don't do anything with my hair, don't spend more than a minute picking out clothes, if at all, and never wear anything that I personally don't find incredibly comfortable, like jeans and a tshirt and jacket. Never saw a reason to look like something I'm not, it's not gonna help me find a long lasting relationship, and I'm not into meaningless relationships.
I'm not sure what my boyfriend or friends would do if I suddenly started wearing make up. Probably not like it, since it's so not-me. (and I say friends, seeing as I have plenty of guy friends, and very few girl friends. Which makes sense.) ![]() Take me seriously. I dare you. |

My ex went the first few months putting it on when she came to see me, and when we met up, but as the months wore on, she... And I quote 'Couldn't be bothered' and only put it on on a big night out, which was never just the 2 of us, it involved other people and kinda felt like she was putting it on for them...
I think if you genuinely hate make up, and never wear it anyways suree thats cool, but like my ex, don't bother only on big occasions and the 'honey moon' period, that hurt! How can one love themselves, when they love absolutely nothing? Do something that is interesting. If it is not interesting, find out why it is not interesting. |

I wear make up but I prefer to go natural [:
It's been months since the last time I put on make up... 2 of my sisters go crazy when putting make up and they're both in a relationship and I'm thinking 'how do the guys put up with that?' I can't remember when's the last time they left the house w/out any make up, and even w/out it they seem to break out easily and they still cover it ten times w/ those loads of make up, it's just not healthy. |

I personally like girls for their natural beauty not for their mask. Sure some make up is ok lipgloss.mascara/eyeliner and cover up are all fine. Just dont hide your natural beauty thats just not rite to me. I love my girlfriend for her not for some makeup.

I'm a guy and I can definitely say that guys don't say "girls look better without make-up" to not seem shallow. Everyone is shallow to some degree, whether we admit it or not (males AND females)...but that's not the reason why guys say they like a girl to look natural. Girls who don't wear make-up make me think that they have some self-confidence. Wearing make-up tells me that you don't like the way that you look, and you have to spend on products to make you look better in public. It's like you're afraid of disapproval of the people around you. I don't even like female celebrities because they are beyond fake (most of them at least). I kind of like some independence in a woman who can take care of herself. I'm growing bald, and I hate it. But I'm not gonna wear a hat or a wig just because it's an imperfection of mine. I embrace it. And if a woman doesn't like something about herself, I'd expect her to have some integrity and embrace her imperfections.

A lot of girls wear make-up to look emo/goth and sometimes guys like that so that’s what I do. But I hate it when girls wear way too much, like major blue shadow or raccoon eye linear. They don't even realize that it actually looks bad. Personally, though, I wear a good amount of make-up whether guys like it or not because I feel better wearing it and I like to try new designs for my eye make-up.
