Not now. I did it when I was younger a couple of times, although I never went more than a year younger. I was in a relationship last year with someone who was eight months younger than me and it was so annoying. He was pretty immature and also because I turned eighteen before him I had to wait around for aaaages for him to be able to buy his own alcohol and get into club. I couldn't get into my own pre-debs after loads of dress planning, etc (a big event we had in sixth year) because although I was eighteen, he was seventeen and I couldn't leave him outside by himself

I was with a guy who was a year younger than me...it was fun for a while but I felt way more mature than him and it got tiring very quickly...Now i've met a guy who's 8 years older than me...and I much prefer it! But that's just my personal preferance

I generally wouldn't hesitate to date a guy a year younger than me, but school year also matters. Also, comparing age and year level to my younger sister and her boyfriend is sometimes disconcerting.
Beyond a year, it really depends on the guy. I think up to two years would be my limit, and only for someone really ridiculously special.

I put yes because I only recently asked out a 16 year old. It was a first for me to even attempt to persue someone that much younger than me.(I'm turning 22 in December)

I am a hypocrite I guess. I will not date younger, but older is no problem to me. SO is 18 years older than I am

Yeah, it's when you're 16 you can date whomever you want. It's at 18 that you're legally allowed to be in a porno, or take a naughty picture. Technically a 14 year old could date anyone no matter how old, but if there would be sex involved it'd be illegal. However nobody would believe that there would be no sex involved if someone older than 20 were to date a 14 year old without having a lie detector test being performed every week.

Re: Would you date someone younger? - August 27th 2010, 04:51 AM

I personally would. But my meaning of date is loving that person - not just someone who can comfort me without meaning it.

What we need to ask ourselves is what makes dating younger people so wrong and even why we need to question this.

I agree that someone above 18 can date anyone older than 20 years - if it's love. I disagree someone can date a person under 18 while being an adult themselves.

Being a child/teenager is when we first experience the butterflies in our belly, we gaze endlessly at the cute model in the billboard commenting to ourselves "She's sexy", or "He's cute". I find the person would be too inexperienced to actually know the concept of dating and what it does mean.

Therefore the whole situation can be taken advantage of - whether a harmless or harmful way.

Conclusion: If it was an adult I was dating I would, if it was a teenager I wouldn't.

Nope, done it before. Twice actually. They were both incredibly immature. And considering I match up pretty well with guys around 3 years older than me or so, I'll stick with that.

My current boyfriend is 4 years older than me, and I'm happier than I've ever been.

For me, I WOULD date younger but only if they're mature because immaturity is one thing I CANT stand so I normally don't go for anyone younger than me by more than a couple months.

i dont really think thats true, i see it more of the opposite, I usually see that most people call guys a pedo if they go out with a girl that is younger then them if its a 2 year gap or more.

no, that's not strange at all. i think a few years age gap (if the guy is younger) is a bit odd at this age. obviously when you're in your twenties a few years age gap isn't something you'd really think about. a16 year old girl dating a 14 year old boy is a bit odd to me.. but the other way round isn't. it sounds sexist but it's just the way it is.

i wouldn't date someone who was more than a year younger than me.

A few months younger probably.
But a year younger...I couldn't do it.
I kissed a guy three years younger and I ended up being freaked out.
I felt like a pedophile even though I was 16. But he was 13...and my younger brother was 14. So the overall happenings just got to me.
So kissing was bad enough, dating might kill me. O_o

At this stage in my life, I don't think I would date someone more than one year younger than I am. We would just be a different stages of physical and emotional maturity, I think. However, I agree with this:

Perhaps when I'm older, it won't matter as much to me.

I wouldnt go younger than 1 year, because i am so young and its a bit strange, but 1 year is absolute tops. when im older my opinions are very likely to change

i do prefer lads older than me, and i think its perfectly acceptable for the girl to be younger than the boy, more acceptable than the boy to be younger

My boyfriend is about a year younger than me. (We were both born in the same year, but I was born toward the beginning while he was born toward the end.)

I get teased about it, get called "cougar," etc. People think it's weird. Even though I know plenty of girls with boyfriends who are a year or so older than them and it's not considered weird at all. Double-standard much?

I find guys that are 18/19 really immature and generally annoying so that would probably be why I wouldn't date them, not because they're "omg younger than me".

If I found someone that I liked that was 18 then yeah why not?
Not younger than 18. It would feel a bit paedophile ish. We couldn't go out for drinks even.

For me, it would depend (surprise, surprise) on their level of maturity. I dated a year younger with my first bf, and then briefly had a crush on a boy a few years younger than me last year.

However in general, I prefer older.

I don't think I'd date a guy who was younger than me. I like my men to be men, to protect and care for me. But if I were to date another woman, I wouldn't mind if they were a year or two younger, or older.

But preferably older or my age.

I tend to go for older guys but i have dated a guy who was only 57 days younger than me which was a good relationship and my ex boyfriend was only a matter of hours younger than me!...that was a bit weird! But usually boys in their early teens are just a bit immature so you have to go for them in their late teens!

I am right now. He's a year and a half younger. He does look older, say 18-19, and I was really surprised when he first told me his age. I wouldn't say though that he's as mature as a grown up man, but I don't think I am fully mature either yet. :P I guess maturity is not that important to me, I fell for his sincerity and genuineness. He is a little insecure about the age difference but I always try to reassure him that it doesn't matter. What's going on in the mind, matters. To me atleast.

Oh and I've heard that dating younger guys is in right now! O.o There was an article in Cosmopolitan that it's really hot right now and what not.
Also, 50% of the couples I know are older-girl-younger-guy.
