makeup - December 14th 2010, 06:36 PM

Hi guys and girls.
well i was on the bus today on the way home from work,i was tired and looked it due to wearing no makeup lol i started thinking of my boyfriend and then i noticed another couple on the bus, very sweet couple, the girl was wearing makeup and looked wanderful. I have no idea why it made me think this but i've never noticed a girl not wearing makeup around her other half and then i realised i always wear makeup around my boyfriend! even after almost two years. it suddenly dawned on me, us girls worry so much about applying makeup for our other half but do guys really notice? and what are guys thoughts on girls who wear a bit of makeup, too much makeup and no makeup at all?? i must admit my boyfriend is very honest and admits a bit of makeup does make me look a bit more awake lol as in not so dull i guess. but i've never seen a guy comment on a girls makeup lol does this mean they don't care about it? don't notice it? guys what do you think when your other half wears makeup or feels the need to spend hours applying it for a meal, night out etc etc?

And for girls, what about guys who wear makeup? is it ever considered attractive to you? Reason i ask is so many guys find girls attractive when they don't wear makeup and when they do but i never hear of girls finding guys attractive when they were makeup lol.

Yes it's been a long day and yes i let my mind wander whilst on my way home but it bought up some interesting questions that i just had to ask :P

I pretty much never wore make up around myex boyfriend when we were together. I never wear makes up and I don't feel like I have to around him. Didn't bother him in the slightest.

The only time I wear make up it if going out somewhere nice but even then it is only mascara and lip gloss.

When we're in the house, I don't wear make up (unless I had it on from work in the day). And I only put some on, sometimes, if we're going out for food or something. Otherwise I don't bother.

There's a difference between noticing something subconsciously and noticing something consciously. Consciously, I'm unlikely to notice whether a girl is wearing makeup or not. Subconsciously, though, I'm judging her hotness, and that's going to be influenced in part by whether or not she's wearing makeup. It's unlikely, then, that a guy (straight guy?) will comment on your makeup. It's not exactly the first thing we think about. But I'm willing to bet that you're judged more attractive when you're wearing makeup than when you aren't.

I don't care for make-up, really. And I've met some guys who feel the same. Others like it in moderation. Others like it quite heavy. Really depends on the guy's preference. I never wore make-up around my ex. He considered me beautiful regardless.

Haha my boyfriend actually DISLIKES it when I wear make up, he says he doesn't like getting the sparkles (because my eye shadow has really light shimmer in it) on him when we snuggle. And if I wear foundation which I don't very often he claims it tastes funny when he kisses my cheek. Haha so overall he doesn't like it and I don't usually wear it much at all.

I wear makeup if I want to, I don't if I don't.

And I really doubt that my boyfriend cares whether or not I wear it.

My husband constantly hints that he wants me to cut back on the amount of make-up I wear even though I don't wear that much. He says I don't need it and that I look great without it.

I get the most compliments from him though when I have a fair amount of decently done make-up on though So who knows. He's confusing.

Re: makeup - December 15th 2010, 02:25 AM

I usually don't wear makeup. Personally, I find it to be too much maintenance and rather pointless, considering I think I'm plenty attractive without it. I only wear it if I am in the mood. As for my boyfriend, he likes it both ways, but his opinion doesn't usually influence if I wear it or not. After all, he isn't the one applying gunk to his face. Sometimes I will do it to dress up for him, though.

I don't really think men look attractive with makeup, save for a few special circumstances.

thanks for sharing your thoughts just a question for those of you who only put it on if your going out for food etc but not when your with your bf at home, why do you only feel the need to put it on then?? is it to impress not only your boyfriend but others around you?? just curious

I don't usually bother with make-up, but if I'm going on a date or something, then i'll make a point of doing my hair and face nicely. It just makes it feel more special. As for guys wearing make-up, it all depends on the guy. Some guys look really cute if it's done well

I haven't worn makeup in 2.5 years. And even then, it was just an occasion. While I like how I look after I apply makeup I find it to be a waste of time because it only looks fresh for about an hour and I always feel disgusting after that.

Just not my cup of tea, I guess...

Boyfriend doesn't seem to mind. We don't do fancy outings and I don't think he's actually ever seen my wear makeup... hrmmm.

I am actually not confident at all.
I don't wear make up because my skin is really bad, I used to wear make up to cover up spots and stuff but it just clogged up my pores and gave me more spots and it just wasn't worth it. My skin has improved so much since not wearing make up.
I also never have time in the mornings before college to put make up on, yes I could wake up earlier but I don't see the point.
Another problem I have is I am very pale and it is hard to find make up to match my skin tone and most make me look orange.

I just feel overall make up is not worth the time and effort.

Also my ex boyfriend was constantly attracted to me with or without make up...

To me makeup is another face for girls to hide behind.
I haven't worn makeup around my fiance and we've been together for ages.
I never can be bothered to keep touching it up, the spots you get off it.

My partner has seen pictures of me with make up on and say's I look better without make-up and I'm now confident not to wear it.

My sister is so self consicous that she wears makeup to bed!!

Re: makeup - December 18th 2010, 11:59 AM

My boyfriend had said before he doesn't like when girls cake on their make-up. When I'm going out somewhere nice, I'll put on foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, lipgloss - the works but when I'm just at home with him or just hanging out somewhere, I'll only were some eyeliner and mascara. I feel he has something got to do with me putting it on. I want him to think I'm beautiful. But for me, it's more a confidence issue. I feel more pretty with that little bit of make-up rather than none. Yet, I could be around friends and have no make-up on and be totally comfortable.

Yes, I know this reply SCREAMS low confidence. :P

I've been with Matt for over 4 years and only wear makeup sometimes when we're getting ready to go out. I definitely don't put it on every single day just to sit at the house.

I wear makeup when I go out. Not like to the store but if im going to school or on a date, doing something important then I will. When Im dating a guy I usualy do go out of my way to put makeup on and mess wth my hair try to make myself look a bit better but after that if we're not like going on a date or something I don't wear any.

Re: makeup - December 18th 2010, 03:00 PM

My boyfriend still tells me he thinks I'm pretty even when I'm not wearing make up. I will usually wear make up around him ~ but I think that's more for myself than me; as in I feel more attractive and self-confident when I'm wearing it, even though I don't really wear that much. I would always put it on when I'm going to hang out with him ~ sure I'd put it on before going anywhere ~ but there's been times like, for example, the two of us were just in his house for two days straight and obviously most of my make-up had worn off by the end of it, but he still thought I looked nice.
So I don't think it really matters to him whether I wear it or not but I feel better when I wear it around him.
