One year anniversary ideas? - September 18th 2011, 05:17 AM

Hello everyone! My one year is coming up pretty soon. My boyfriend and I started dating last year on October 17 . So, we celebrated our 11 month today, but because one year is so special, I want to start planning something now.

What are some of your ideas?

I'm currently creating this note thing for him, where every day for the next month I'll write something I like about him on a notecard with the date on it. Then once they're done I'm going to attach them all together, so it's like a month's worth of nice things for him to have.

Should I get him a gift as well? If so, should he and I set a price range, so we both get each other equal value gifts? What do people usually do?

I think the notecards thing is really nice! While my boyfriend was away for two months training and interning in Germany, I did this same thing and sent it to him while he was still in the states training with his unit (he's in the military). He loved it!

When I was dating my ex, we decided that instead of going out and spending a ton of money on an expensive dinner, which we usually only did on each others birthdays, we'd go to the store and cook dinner ourselves. It was great having that closeness, doing something fun, exciting and new together (neither of us really had any cooking skills at this time). With my current boyfriend, we didn't do anything special for our one year anniversary, but splurged on our two year anniversary. We just didn't have the money on our first to do anything, so we just hung out and celebrated our love in his dorm room!

If you want to buy a gift, it's best to set a price range. That way, none of you are spending more on the other. It's best to go from like $20-$50 dollars, that way, neither of you feel pressured to buy a super expensive gift. Some gifts that work well are photo albums engraved with your names and anniversary date on them, and adding photo's of the two of you into it before giving it to him!

I may wear the glass slippers; But my hero wears combat boots <3 I love you, Lieutenant

Wow, one year! Congratulations! Me and my girl recently had our one year (September 11. I know, weird date. Still one of the best days of my life). What we did was I took her to my church to visit and be in my youth group for a day, and then after that we got some grapes, pineapple slices, my blanket that I had ever since I was real small, and some homemade tea and went to a park area next to a big river (the French Broad river [we live in NC]) and we just hung out there being our awesome, bestfriend selves and I read her a spoken word poem that I wrote for her and she gave me a book of quotes from us and then wrote at the end something like "One day we'll have this whole book filled with quotes." And then she drew a picture of the two of us. After the picnic-like thing we walked to downtown together and I paid for dinner at a noodle shop and then we went to Marble Slab and I bought us a sundae so we could share it. We both thought it was freaking amazing, but that's us.

It doesn't matter all that much what you do or what you get, as long as the two of you are together, then I'm sure it will be fantastic.

Risk something, take back what's yours.
Say something that you know they might attack you for.
Cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before.
Like it's stupid standing for, what I'm standing for.

When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die.

Your voice is your own, I can't protect it.

You'll have to sing.
A verse no one has ever, known.
Don't be afraid.
Cause no one ever sings, alone.
Love all.

First of all, that's awesome that it's been almost a year, so congrats on that (:
Second of all, I really really like that notecard idea. I do something kind of similar to that but different at the same time, if I ever miss my boyfriend or anything I'll write him notes and then give them to him next time I see him.
As for gifts, I think you two should talk and set a price limit if you do want to do gifts, or you could ditch gifts altogether and just go do something fun and memorable. (:
Either way I hope it goes well!
