20 questions for the female population of TeenHelp - December 12th 2011, 10:04 PM

I recently came up with a series of twenty questions for both genders of teen help regarding relationships.

Check all that apply in the poll. If you do not check a favourable answer I will assume your response is unfavourable.

These questions are based towards hetro-sexual relationships, but you could easily answer the questions if you are of a different sexual orientation (Simply replacing husband/boyfriend for wife/girlfriend).

Poll closes on January 1st, 2012.

See the male counterpart here: http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f9-re...e-teenhelpers/

Some of these questions are incredibly difficult to answer. What is meant here by the use of the word "strange?" There are some people who are interested in knife play, asphyxiation, or things involving scat or urine. While I consider myself to be on the kinky side, I have some hard limits that I would not cross for anyone, not myself nor my partner. If you mean "strange" as in something unconventional that I personally do not have interest in, as long as it does not cross my limits I may consider it.

My problem was the "blank is more important than blank" questions. I think they're equally important.

Re: 20 questions for the male TeenHelpers. - December 12th 2011, 11:34 PM

A few clarifications:

Quote:
I think personality is more important than appearance.
For what? For a hookup or a fuck-buddy, personality is a non-issue, but in a relationship it's hugely important. I didn't vote for this, because I very rarely do relationships.

Quote:
I would NOT date an older woman.
Matters of degree. I didn't check this box, because I'd date a slightly older woman. I wouldn't date a cougar, at least not without special circumstances.

Quote:
If my partner had a strange fetish I would try to fufill it.
Voted yes, but it depends on what the fetish is.

Quote:
Intelligence is more important than humor in a potential partner.
There's different styles of humour, and many of them are closely connected with intelligence. I don't think I could go without either in a relationship, at least partially because the witty, observational humour I like relies pretty heavily on intelligence.

Quote:
I would lie in court for my partner.

I would do something (Like participate in a sport I do not like) for my partner.
Once again, matters of degree.

Personally I'd have changed the age question to "I would not date a man younger than me". I think you'd be very hard-pressed to find a girl that would turn down a guy for being older than her.

Acheron: At the same time, if they did not check the box, I would assume they would prefer a younger man. Thus "Any questions not answered favourably will be assumed unfavourable."

Re: 20 questions for the female population of TeenHelp - December 12th 2011, 11:43 PM

Yeah, the only question I was really unsure about checking off was "If my partner had a strange fetish I would at least try to fulfill it" because everyone's definition of "strange" could be different. In the end I decided not to check it because I decided that I would probably have a lot of limits.

Re: 20 questions for the male TeenHelpers. - December 12th 2011, 11:44 PM

1. A relationship, becaue that was what my poll was geared towards.

2. Older to whatever degree counts as signifigantly older to you personally. For future clarification let's say 10 years.

3. Again, this depends on your opinion of a strange fetish. Anything out of the ordinary.

4. But which is more important to you? Or which would you want more of in a prospective relationship.

5. How about in court you're lying about... a DUI for the sake of simplicity.

"Intelligence is more important than humor in a potential partner."
I checked this one, but intelligence is necessary to understand humor. I just really hate stupid guys.
I like what you're going for, but the entire survey is hetrosexist and cisgendered. Some women don't just date men, and said you'd do this for "both genders" but there are more than two genders...so you're excluding a good portion of people in your surveys.

Coffee: I realize that, but for the sake of simplicity I limited it to two categories that you could place yourself in. This isn't scienctific, but only a social experiment I'm conducting for personal enjoyment and reference.

If you date men, answer this one. If you date women, answer the other. If you date both, answer both. The vast, vast majority of people fall into one of these categories, and the amount of people excluded completely from the data set would be very, very small.

I enjoyed looking at the results of this. Nice job!

Re: 20 questions for the female population of TeenHelp - December 13th 2011, 06:56 PM

The only box I checked was 'personality is more important than appearance'. The rest, to me, is circumstantial. For instance: facial hair, I don't like that much, but it's not a deciding factor.
Flirting with others: as long as he's not serious and is 'bringing it home' who cares?
A man being shorter than me is not ideal, I'm 5'9 but if the man of my dreams was shorter then I suppose I could get used to bending down to kiss someone
As for the hair colour question, I would never alter my appearance to suit a partner. I am me, my looks are me, if they want to change me well, then they won't have me.
Lying for someone in court? Absolutely not, if they need me to lie for them then they must not be a good person.

A lot of these options could change for me depending on the person, as I'm sure they will for others.

I find it amusing that you consider 2 or less kids 'very few' :P, perhaps whether you want kids at all is more of a deal breaker..

Dacinfool: 2 or less (2-0) is very few children compared to "many" of 5 or more (5+) 3 or 4 falls into the middle, meaning if they answered neither I assume they want 3 or 4 children.

I used that question as comparison to the male poll to see if views on children is conflicting. It seems men want fewer children then women, if you checked the other poll.

I liked this, despite that a lot of the statements were based on circumstance. The variation in results between men and women was interesting.

I realize that, but I actually was curious to see how many men thought it was acceptable to cheat on their partner without anyone's knowledge vs women, for one example.

It's still interesting to see how Teenhelp feels though.
