What I want or what my wife wants -
January 6th 2012, 03:56 AM
When I was 18 I had a lip ring and I really liked it. Unfourtunatly I had a seizure and it got crushed and ripped out. I've wanted to get a new one ever since then but never got around to it.
Now I'm married and my wife keeps saying no. I really want to get a new lip ring but my wife is really stuborn on this. I kind of want to go get one anyways, I could probably get one for free where I got it before and if I didn't want it later I could just let it close. My wife keeps saying I'm an adult and adults don't have lip rings but that's not true is it? Any input would be useful. Should I just go ahead and do it? It's my body right, I can do what I want with it. However I'd be afraid of how angry she may be if she came home and I had a new lip piercing. |

Well you're 21, and I think its still acceptable to have a lip ring at that age.
However, is it worth it to make your wife angry and go get something she clearly doesn't like? I think your marriage with her is more important than a piercing, so I wouldn't get it done. ![]() Buddy|Live Help Operator|HelpLink Mentor|Social Networking Team Relationships&Dating Mod|Lifestyle Mod|Media&Entertainment Mod Performance Committee |

Marriage, as are all relationships, require sacrifice. I know in the past we've talked about your wife in Chat, and it seems like she's trying to control every aspect of your life. That isn't fair to you.
At 21, lip rings are still acceptable. She's telling you it's not because she doesn't want you to get one. I know several people who are a few years older than you and I who have lip rings, or have double lip piercings. That doesn't make them a child. Communication is #1, so talk to her about this. |

I don't think it should be what you want or what she wants, I think it is what your employer/future employer wants.
Personally, I would say don't get a lip ring. I feel 21 is too old and just makes you look immature. |

Hey man!
I'm 21 I have a lip piercing! I'm still at university though and I know when I start looking for jobs I won't be able to wear it anymore. I want to enjoy it while I can. I mean a relationship is all about give and take, it depends on whether you really want to stand your ground on this issue or let it go, how important is it for you? I think the best thing to do is talk about it with her, try to seek compromise, how important is this for her? How angry would she be? Impossible

At 21 it's still acceptable to have a lip piercing but I don't think it's worth it to get your wife upset over something so silly. Just explain to her that it's something that you really want.
