Do I feel love? - January 24th 2012, 10:19 PM

I'm a 14 year old guy and I'm pretty confused at the moment. I'm not like anyone else I know in the sense I'm mature and in contact with myself. I have a best friend, and I feel really close to her, yet from what I've read online I'm feeling love. Whenever I'm around her I feel so content and relaxed, and I find myself always thinking of her. I miss her even when I've seen her earlier and I never want the moments were together to end. Being away from her is painful. She's all that's on my mind and I don't care about anything else except her. My one want in life seems to be just to run off with her sometime and show her how much I value her. Also, when I hear she's upset I'm filled with this urge just to be there for her and care for her. It consumes me and all that I want to do is help her and show her how much she means to me. Is this just close friendship or is it something more? I've had close friends before but I've never felt like this. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Ah, been there and done that. Well, I cant tell you if its more - because I honestly don't know. I would try to flirt with her, or maybe just be honest and tell her you like her (don't use the word love - or you may spook her). See how she responds to how you flirt with her, or how she responds when you tell her you like her. Thats when you will understand if she wants more or not.

To be honest, don't read about love on the Internet - because there is no 100% right definition on it. We all have different experiences, and we all date different people. From what you told me, this just seems like you really really like her - but I wouldn't say you are 'in love' with her (although I'm not here to tell you if you are or not - I'm just saying that its may or may not be a possibility).

Hearts are often broken by words left unspoken - So communicate with her, and see if she likes you back. If she doesn't, then you have to move on, but if she does than maybe you can ask her out or get closer.

Best wishes,
Chris

If you have to ask, then no, you aren't in love.
Love is one of those things where you'll just know it if it happens. I agree with Chris, love has many definitions so you can't exactly compare some online talk with whats actually going on, it won't be completely accurate.

I agree with Chris, flirt with her and maybe try asking her out. And as he said, don't use the love word right off the bat!

And as Nicole said, you will know when you're in love. For example, I realized I was in love with my boyfriend soon before we even started dating. A particular incident occured, and I felt it. I'd liked him very VERY much for a long time, but after this incident I realized that I really truly loved him.

You can't ask us if you're in love, because we really can't give you an answer...only you know when you're really in love.

Yes. What you're feeling is love.
