I used to be like that. I would never look people in the eyes when I talked to them. I guess it made me nervous or something. I'm not sure about what advice to give you to help make it less awkward, but I know that it took a lot of time and continuous effort to force myself to look into peoples eyes when I talk to them. Now it's a habit.
