Stuff like that used to happen to me all the time.
I would miss a bunch of opportunities. I even fell for a guy a couple times when I hadn't talked to them much at all.
It sounds like you like to get to know someone before you fall for them. You just need to find someone who's willing to do that. There are a lot of couples who start out being friends, even if it's just for a few months, before dating.
It can be really hard, I know, but I'm certain someone will come along. By the way, Joe said it very well.
