It's unfair that Gretel is spreading a rumor about something that isn't true. I agree that you should talk to her on Monday. Stay calm and friendly while talking to her though, as she probably won't respond very well if you talk to her in an agressive way. Hopefully she'll realize that this is hurting you everytime she tells someone else and she'll stop.

I know it's a tough time for you right now, but you know you're innocent. Hold your head high and keep doing things the way you've always been doing things. It's possible Gretel was just jealous of what you have, and how you're able to earn everything by yourself. For the moment though, even if anyone else is discussing who could have taken the money you should stay quiet. Pointing the blame to anyone may make them feel exactly how you're feeling right now. Rumors and gossip never do any good.
