Actually, your mom didn't overreact. Before you get angry just read what i have to say first(I am not taking anyone's side here).
Your mom just reacted off some emotional anger. Which comes out when your emotions are hurt. So she reacted off emotional anger. Its just like you being angry and ranting here on
TH. But now her's must have been more than just a rant. I hope you get what I mean. But emotional anger doesn't care if something was a comment or an insult. To emotional anger, there is no difference so that's why your mom reacted the way she did.
