The first time I used one, it hurt. But the more you use them, the better you get at using them. And then they don't hurt, you don't even feel them! Like said above, plastic applicators are definitely the easiest, and reading the leaflet that comes with them could help you a lot.

If you're thinking about it too much, your body will tense up and it will hurt to put them in. So you need to relax yourself, take deep breaths and get into a comfortable position. Putting your foot up onto the side of the loo or a bath gives you a better angle, and you'll be able to get it in better. Also make sure that you're putting them in properly, the leaflet should help with that.

There shouldn't really be any reason why it would hurt you, if you're doing it right. I think it's just one of those things that takes a bit of practice. But it's well worth it in the end. They are more cleaner, and easier to use. And you'll wonder why you never used them before!

Good luck with it!
