I think it's great that you talked to your parents, and it seems that they are supporting you which is also great. You also seem very confident in your decision, which is another plus. I've never been in your situation so I certainly can't speak from that point of view, but since you are so secure and the father is also supportive I believe that you will make it through this fine.
