Only time will tell
She packs
And stacks
Another box away
Still wishing she could stay
It doesn't matter if she packs slow
In the end, it all has to go
A picture this time is the cause
Yet another reason for her to pause
It is a picture of better times
Of a mommy, daddy and a little girl before any rhymes
Loneliness seeps in to fill the void
Replacing a once happy family now destroyed
She has so much to do this day
More memories to pack away
She separates the things she will have to sell
If anyone will want them, only time will tell
Only time will tell
She has a pressing question on her mind
One the answer she can not easily find
One that weighs heavily on her heart
As she stares at the things with which she must part
How can one put a price on a memory
On her dress-up clothes all glimmery and shimmery
Even on her desk and chair
Years of homework done from there
They may mean nothing to you, but they do to me
They mean something to me you see
The clothes made me feel pretty and in them I would dance
The desk is where I first gave writing a chance
She has so much to do this day
More memories to pack away
She separates the things she will have to sell
If anyone will want them, only time will tell
Only time will tell
