That is a totally different situation. Praying or talking about God may make you uncomfortable, but there's no link between that and making you feel bad about who you are. Using "gay" to mean "lame", however, makes a link between homosexuality and being unacceptable/stupid/uncool.

I know what 'chink in the armour' means. But you can't seriously believe that those reporters weren't purposely making that pun. Why do you think that phrase was used more than once instead of another phrase with the same meaning? It is a well-known racial slur, even if it is one that is not commonly said anymore.
The reason the rest of us care is because it's not okay to make discriminative remarks about someone's race. It's not okay to use racist terms in our society. It's great that Jeremy Linn wasn't offended by it, but that doesn't mean that it was okay to say or that any of us should accept words like that. Surely you agree that racist terms shouldn't be acceptable?
